Walking Post-Op

I was sleeved on Dec 3rd, 2013. I have been walking every day, usually under .75 miles. Today I walked 1.2 miles. Is that ok? What is too much walking? How much do you walk?

Congrats, I think that is awesome. I am sure a lot of the vets on the site may have better insight.

I get sleeved tomorrow. I have been reading everything and anything for the past 6 months.

The program I am on wants us to start walking after the surgery, and work up to a mile. I get the impression there is no magical number but to get out and get moving to help aide in the healing process.

Wow I am impressed with you. I had a conversion from lap band to sleeve on 11/27/23 and was discharged on 12/1/13. I felt pretty proud of myself for walking the dog around the block in subzero weather and then walking the aisles of Target. LOL

Walking is the best exercise you can do.

I was doing about what you're doing - just don't overdo it. It's easy to do and hard to recover - remember, you just had major surgery.

If you're handling that kind of walk OK, do it.
