Hiatal Hernia?

As anyone had one? I'm feeling a rather strange and uncomfortable pulling sensation under my right breast and I'm wondering if that's what it is. I have heard of surgeons fixing this while performing the VSG. Looking for anyone who's gone through it. My last appointment for my six month requirement by insurance is this Tuesday. I will confirm with them but is this something I should be asking my primary care physician?

I actually was just sleeved on 10/7 and woke up from surgery with my gallbladder removed and hiatal hernia repaired, too!

My pain under my right breast was gall bladder and middle of my chest was hiatal hernia!

Have you had your UGI?

I had one also..no biggie my surgeon fixed it while he did my sleeve..just drink slowly after wards...you will be fine

I think the odds are that you'll "feel" GB discomfort more than that of a hernia... so I am with Gluten Mom...

Most people have to get an upper GI series or endoscopy prior to surgery -- ask your surgeon's office about this. If you have a hiatal hernia, they will find it then and assess whether it should be repaired during surgery.

I had an undignosed Hiatial Hernia that was repaired during surgery. You'll be fine you won't even be able to tell. If the doctor didn't tell me about it I would have known. But then I would have attributed the lack of the pains in my chest to the PPI and smaller tummy

Thanks everyone! I had my upper gi done and they never mentioned anything about it. My next apt is Tuesday so I will ask then. :) :)

I had one and never even knew it!

I had hiatal hernia diagnosed with endoscopy as part of my pre-op testing. I had awful heartburn and my dr assumed that's why. It's due to be repaired when I am sleeved. 10/21... Almost here!
