5 days Post Op

Hi!! Things are getting better each day. Right now I am battling constipation. And gas pain in my shoulder. The doctor told me that the shoulder pain is also related to the hiatal hernia repair they did.

One thing that concerns me, I weighed myself this morning and I am the same as I was the day of the surgery. Is that normal??

Thanks!!

Yes I think it is normal after surgery to regain a little weight from the air and such. At least that's what I have found reading everyone else's posts lol. I'm glad you are doing well! I am 6 days post op and pain is finally slowing down to where I am feeling a little normal again. Can't wait to get staples taken out tomorrow! Lol

Do you feel like you have to burp a lot? I get that but can't force myself to and the air is stuck and kinda have to breathe myself to normal lol sounds weird lol

It is from all the IV fluids, they will usually come off the first week... :)

I am 12 days post op. They weighht is normal. I weighted myself 5 days after surgery and hsd gained 1.5 lbs. I flipped! I reweighted 4 days later and had lost 10.8 lbs. Gas pain is normal and the easiest and most effective way is to walk walk walk. At your own pace lil by lil. Like baby steps!

I do feel like I have to burp allot. Some times I can and other it seems to settle in my shoulder.

I had gained 4 pounds when I weighed at hospital and they told me it was from IV fluids. I have not had a bad time at all. I didn't wear drainage tubes home, I didn't haven't any stitches or staples (just surgical glue) and I went to the bathroom 3rd day home and still going. I had surgery on July 22 and I feel so much better already. I do get tired a lot but I just try and push right through it. I pray that you all get past the gas and pain soon!!!!

I sometimes have pain in my shoulders too. they said it was from the gas. I'm also burping alot. Sometimes it hurts, sometimes it doesn't.

I'm having trouble eating and drinking. I normally don't drink a lot of fluids, so that's bothering me. And I just don't want to eat.

My family/bf sets a timer every 30 minutes and makes me take in my fluids and I'm the opposite. I wish I could just gulp icy cold Water. Seems like nothing is cold enough lol.

I am on clear liquids until Friday at the earliest. I just want something other than broth and jello. I would love a yogurt.

Can u do sugar free Popsicles ? they are the only thing saving me right now.
