What I'm trying to understand is what are the sensations? Does your stomach "hurt"? Does it feel like a constant tightness or knot? Is frequent nausea common? Thanks in advance, trying to get an idea of what I can expect realistically, and have no one to ask. .

I take Aspirin too and idk if I will ever have another child. I have had multiple miscarriages but didn't know at the time it was because my body clotted off the placenta. I know I can't get pregnant until at least a yr so I'm not sure what to use for bc? Are u using anything? I can't take anything hormonal and I don't want to have a para guard for a year basically. Any recommendations?

My experience was just a general a ache in my stomach. The incisions don't hurt that bad. I had lots of gas burping and farting!! My surgery was pretty easy. My date was. may 17th I'm at home recovering now. I'm feeling really good. I don't feel hungry but I feel full all the time. Trying to drink all the Water and the boost Meal Replacement is a job an all day long job. But it's w orthodox it so far!!

I was on Coumadin for a month with the last blood clot. Aspirin for the rest of my life. I was taken off if hormonal BC and I'm never allowed to take estrogen for anything ever again. And if I ever decide to get pregnant I'll be high risk.

I'm still pre-op, but I also have Factor V (heterozygous). I've never actually had a clot, but I did have 3 miscarriages prior to the birth of my 4 beautiful girls. I took Lovenox during my first two successful pregnancies and combination of Lovenox and Heparin during my 3rd. For my last pregnancy I kind of took more control over my care and was able to go off of Lovenox towards the end and switch to 2 baby aspirin a day so that I could have a medication-free delivery with a midwife at a birth center.

My surgeon will go over the details of how long he wants me on anticoagulants after surgery at my pre-op visit on June 5th.

Knowing that I would be having surgery this year, I spoke with my hematologist and he said that I could go on the mini pill, which I started at the end of last year. But that didn't last long because you have to take it at the same time every day. If you are more than an hour late than you can become pregnant and I kept forgetting. I went back to him and for an alternative and after speaking with my midwife, he said that since I have never had a clot I can do the Mirena. I had that put in about 2 months ago I take baby aspirin everyday. I haven't had any problems, my labs are great and I've had 2 dopplers of my legs in the past 2 months and those have been fine. This may not be an option for you because you have actually had a clot, but I thought I would share my experience. Take Care!

lol - No problem! I'm also heterozygous Factor V. My doctor was okay with the Mirena as long as I kept up with taking my aspirin and controlled my other risk factors. I've been tobacco free since I got my diagnosis 11 months ago, and now I'm combatting the weight problem.

everybody is different, but for me- I am currently 5 days post op. there was a lot of pain in the beginning because of the drain they put in. so every chance I could get in the hospital I asked for pain killers. I walked in the halls, used my spirometer, did what I was supposed to do...but I slept every chance I could get. I don't know if it hurt worse because of my fibromyalgia or what...but it was not fun. they told me the pain would go away once the drain was taken out...and once it was- the pain decreased drastically. but I still feel pain where the drain was...and then the gas pain. I feel it a lot in my chest, I've been asking my mother if she could burp me like a baby haha. surprisingly though, that helped a lot!

I came home from the hospital yesterday, had a mini breakdown. my surgeon only likes to prescribe liquid Tylenol for pain, which is complete BS after surgery. I had to call him up and ask for something stronger. so he gave me Tylenol with codeine. definitely isn't anything like the Dilaudid they give you in the hospital through your I.V. But eventually it works.

I started sipping on liquids 2 days ago. yesterday I could only sip 1/2 of an oz every 10-20 minutes or so. there was a lot of tightness. I kept feeling full quickly, it was so weird. and it wasn't like normal stomach full... it was like a tightness in my chest and a feeling like I couldn't get anything else down.

today the swelling has gone down, I was able to sip 1 oz of Water with no problem. also, around Breakfast time I was able to eat almost 2 oz of sugar-free jello! it was amazing. I stopped when I started to feel the slightest bit of tightness because i'm so nervous.

I would say this time is definitely veryyy nerve wrecking. its scary getting used to having to sipping liquids and "eating." the i.v isn't there so I have been trying to make sure i'm drinking enough, and that is difficult because I haven't felt any signs of hunger or thirst... I've been going by what my tongue feels like. sounds weird but that's the only way I can tell if I need to drink. I have been trying to avoid getting to that point where my tongue is dry, because im sure that is definitely not a good thing.... but..it's just hard...you know? I want to punch every person who says this surgery is taking the easy way out. dieting and exercising is NOTHING compared to this.

Did u have to do the Lovenox? I was so scared. I personally haven't had a clot yet but my mom and sister have had strokes. My sister at 23 from a clot after bc pills.

OMG I hated those shots. after a couple times you get used to the initial pain of the shot.but the bruises they caused on my lower abdomen make me cringe so im trying my hardest not to look at them.

I am 9months post and like others I feel hungry but just eating something helps. I feel normal sometimes I forget I had the surgery. I too feel great still about 50 lbs from my goal and every month is a little harder but Im still truckin'!

My stomach well really pouch makes loud noises but I'm used to it. Life in post after recovery feels normal.

I am nervous about the same thing. My doc said that he suggests Tylenol at home for pain, I have had big and little surgeries before, so I am about 99°/° certain that Tylenol will do Nothing for me for pain. He called and reassured me he is not a sadist, lol, so I at least feel a little better now. Did your doc give you some thing for gall bladder?

I don't feel hungry, I feel normal, until it's eating time. Then It feels like I have a brick in my stomach for about 15 minutes, then it's back to normal.

Tylenol? Wow you guys have some strict surgeons. I would think that would be totally inadequate.

Just don't rub them and they don't bruise as bad it was a different experience cause I'm a nurse and usually on the other end. Fortunately once I was released back home he put me back on my aspirin and no more shots at home. I just have to be religious about my Pepcid twice a day so I don't have as much a risk for ulcer.

I'm a little over a year out and yep, everyone is different. I was not given any restrictions, period. I have kind of learned by trial and error. I do make sure I get in my protein and I try and watch my calories. I wok out 3 days a week and walk the other days. For me, when I get hungry and I do get hungry. I start feeling kind of sick and have a little pin in the pouch. As soon as I eat something it goes away. Now for me, I have to just stop myself. I don't feel full until after I've eaten too much. If I do eat too much or eat something that my tummy doesn't like, I have to head for the potty

I had to call him up crying when I got home for him to order me tylenol with codeine. Other than that he told me to start the diluted Protein today and to hold off on the Vitamins till my post op vist june 4th. I have to take pepcid 3x daily but thats been difficult. Nothing for my gall bladder though.
