I love olives and pickles too! I have no idea if I can eat them. I am just over a week out of surgery.

Yes, you can eat pickles after surgery. In the early months, I had to peel off the back. Be careful with the sodium content.

I love pickles and olives too..... I was about 2 months post op and started eating pickles I did chew them like crazy, same with the olives = chew, chew, chew, chew, chew and you should be OK. Good thing about them, low in calories and fat AND they filled me up too. :)

I have not heard anything about not being able to eat them. The sodium content might make you retain water but if eaten in moderation, no reason not to enjoy them. I love them too, one of the things I will eat on Thanksgiving.

I’m in pre-op purgatory - and really would love a jar of kalamata olives (ok a few not a jar) but since I weigh in like every few weeks I’ve been avoiding them...I spend so much time analyzing what I will be able to eat - I thought I’d throw out there some things that make me happy and see what the guru’s say...

Thank you all - you made me a happy gal today.

Check with your doctor. Vinegar products and citrus products were no goes for me for a few months. They can irritate the stomach lining.
