This girl is on fireeee

That's my new theme song and its not for a good reason. I guess protein shakes and I are not friends. I am dying, I was up at 4am with the worst gas pains of my life. I told my sister in law that I was going to be the Virgin Macy on "I didn't know I was pregnant" that or I had an alien making an escape through my stomach. This morning it happened again and I had a lovely bout of diarrhea, I've never been so happy to have that! It immediately eliminated the pain. I had 3oz of a protein shake AND it all started again. I know protein shakes can be a process but I don't know if I can deal with this every time. It's horrid.

sounds like its time to try a bunch of different shakes (if you already have not gone through it). there is a forum for nutrition, etc.....check it out. a burning bum is NO fun. get better soon!

Take two lactaid pills before you drink your shakes. These are classic symptoms of lactose intolerance

I have tried a couple different shakes but I will try the lactaid pills!

Or make them with almond milk?

It sounds like lactose intolerance to me as well. My nurse and nut told me almond milk is a waste for any WLS patient. It doesn't have the protein you need in it. They said stick with soy. I've got lactose intolerance so I've had to find soy protein powder, which isn't avail everywhere.

I had the same problem with protein shakes. My nutritionist suggested that I use Shakes or Whey that are Isolate. Isolate made all the difference to me. I don't have that gas and diarrhea anymore since I switched over. Oh and since I make my own protein shakes with the Whey Isolate I use unsweetened Almond milk because I do have a bit of Lactose intolerance. Good Luck, Hope something works for you since protein is the most important part of your new diet.

Hi. I am lactose I tolerant too. My dietician told me to use unjury protein powder. Not bad at all. And make it with Lactaid milk. The Lactaid milk has 8 grams of protein for 8 ounces. Soy and almond milk don't have as much protein. Hope it ges better.
