Losing Weight But Still Feeling Lost

I am so happy I had the surgery! BUT.... I am having a really hard time with my addiction to food. I can't eat much but I do still try to binge and I don't know how to stop! I am so lost! I am so worried! I am so scared! I also have no energy at all!! I am lazy and I need to be doing! I want to be excited about losing weight and I want to be getting up and walking and doing this right!! I can't get excited about anything anymore!

I am losing it I think!

  • Hi Lunaya, The best I can suggest is finding a counselor that deals with disorder eating. And find a support person or talk it out here... I am a binger too, this surgery does not stop me. Pain? I

Thank you all so much! I can't tell you what it has meant to me that you are all here and offering support! I got an appointment with a counselor for next Wednesday and I am really hoping it helps!! Again thank you all for being there.

  • 2 weeks later...

"This morning my boyfriend said I think you are depressed. I looked at him and said, well my best friend has been limited/taken away from me.I can't stuff myself to numbness. food has been my best friend, my solace,my reward,my emotional rescue. So now what do I do? "

This hits the nail on the head. Food had always been there when no one else was. It celebrated with me, mourned with me, and comforted me. I miss it....but I am glad I found the sleeve, working on it being my new best friend (surgery date 5/28).

What a wonderful thread. Lunaya, you have helped me by posting and sharing, and all the supportive replies as well.

Best advice would be to join a local support group, plus reach out to your nutritionist. Remember why you started this journey and have that overcome you cravings.

I really appreciate this thread. I certainly "get it" too. I binged on pumpkin pie a couple of nights ago and I'm only 3.5 weeks out - scared myself to death. My two cents on therapy: After over 10 years of therapy, the most helpful has been cognitive behavioral therapy. It is solution focused and focuses directly on solving the behavior (e.g., the binge eating). Although working through my family issues etc etc blah blah blah might have been helpful, it is the cognitive behavioral therapy that helps me in a practical way. Now if I would just put it in practice more often... Good luck to you! Please keep us all posted!
