If you do a forum search on the soda you'll find everyone has thoughts on that subject. It has been overdone, actually. There isn't concrete proof in hard data, only correlation, that carbonated beverages alone will stretch the sleeve. But that doesn't mean there won't be one day. Better to err on the side of caution and do as your surgical team tells you, at least on this issue.

At the very least it will probably give you some wicked heartburn. You're only a month and a half out and still healing.

I finally tried diet coke but at the time I was 6 months out. I now have one occasionally maybe average once a week. The only bad part is all the gas and belching it causes. I believe that moderation in all things is the key to life. If I had followed that my whole life I would never have needed this surgery.

Since it is so early for you I would stay away.

I drink fizzy drinks all the time, though I did not start as early as you..6 weeks is too soon

I put crystal lite or similar in with sodium free seltzer Water over crushed ice... got me over my cravings for Slushies this summer

Yes, everyone has an opinion... My program says stay away... period. So I am trying, since I do want coffee and after 6 months will have some wine... I will pass on carbonation (even champagne)

I have tried diet soda with Water added to eliminate the carbonation as much as possible. It doesn't taste as good but gives me the fix.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
