No Straw to drink with!

I know, I know, I was told to NOT use a straw. I wasn't getting enough fluids and always do better if I use a straw so I did. O.M.Gosh - My pain was almost gone and now I have this stupid pain in my shoulder, belly and back - worse that any other pain I've had so far. OK, now I know why they told me to not use a straw!! I hope this goes away soon!!

Why can't u use a straw I always use a straw

How far out are you? I'm only 5 days post op and the air I got in my chest was really painful - all through the night - it is just now starting to get better. I hope down the road I can go back to using a straw but won't try it again until everything is healed.. Lucky you if you can use a straw and not get the pain!!

Sorry I am not sleeved yet, so I guess I won't be using a straw after, yet they say to sip sip sip and boy do I feel stupid I thought through a straw

You know they say no straw for life because you take in more air.

I'm 10 days post op and I've been using a straw since 3 days out, no pain yet!! And it makes it SO much easier to get fluids in and the Protein shakes!! I guess all docs are diff!!!!

They gave me a straw in my water mug in the hospital--all docs have different recommendations on this just like everything else.

When was your surgery?

When was your surgery?

See I do better when I drink from a straw. When I don't I gulp and get a lot of air. I talked to my doc and nut and they said if a straw was easier for me, to use a straw. Every doc is different, and if your body said no good thing you listened to it.

I am no doctor by a long shot but this might just be more gas trying to get out. It took me at least 10 days before this stopped. I have been using a straw since week 2 and I haven't had any problems. My surgeon at my last checkup even said if it doesn't bother me then I am fine to use one. Hang in there and I hope you feel better soon! :)

Sorry your in so much pain! My dr also said no straws for at least 3 months. I am 6 days out and have found that for me the best way to get my water in is eating crushed ice!! You should try! Good luck on your weight loss journey!

I had a straw at the surgery center also. I haven't had any problems and also drink better with one.
