    No Straw to drink with!

They gave me a straw in my water mug in the hospital--all docs have different recommendations on this just like everything else.

    Flavorless protein powder

As far as adding unflavored protein to soup...what is the best way to do it to avoid lumps? Do you add it before you heat the soup or after?

    New You

Sephora would be great for a makeover too--they have tons of product lines there so you're not confined to just one. I've started pinning outfits I like on Pinterest to refer back to--I have clothes in my closet that will fit me for the first 55 lbs lost, and will try to control my shopping until I get close to goal. Try anyway Good luck to you!!

    August 7 is Surgery day!

Yep, I'm the 7th too!! One more day of pre-op liquids! I still don't know what time, the hospital is supposed to call me tomorrow around 5:00 to let me know. Really hoping I'm not the first one out of the gate that morning, that person has to be there at 5:00 am...my drivers (aka parents) would have a looonnnngg day
  6. Congratulations abbygirl!! Keep us posted on how you're doing!
  7. I want to have mine in Hawaii!! *pouts and stomps foot* Sounds so much more pleasant than Iowa
  8. Hey all, you may want to private message your email addresses rather than post them here...you may start getting a LOT of unwanted spam mail otherwise.
  9. Glad to know I'm not alone!! . Take now for instance, I should be asleep, but am soooo not asleep...August 7th can't come soon enough!
  10. Anyone else having what I'm calling "surgery brain"?? I'm having a really hard time concentrating on anything else, work, etc. It's not even that I'm thinking about surgery, I just can't focus. I can't turn my brain off at night either.

    So frustrated

Yep, you gotta go very low carb--Protein and veggies only, if you need sweet then no more than a cup of strawberries and/or blueberries a day. It sounds crazy, but don't be afraid of real butter, olive oil, and real salad dressing (2 carbs max per serving)--it will help the weight come off. I lost 85 lbs 2 yrs ago doing this - gained it back of course, because its hard to stick with long term. You don't need long term, you need quick results! I'm now down 43 lbs since mid Feb doing low carb too. My NUT and doc are thrilled, and surgery is in less than 2 weeks! You can do this!
  12. Okay, so I'm making my lists for the hospital and afterwards, and realized that all of my bras are underwire. Every one of 'em. Will that be okay, or should I pick up a couple of "comfort" ones for while incisions are healing? Going without is not an option .
  13. I got my Genie bras today--why oh why have I not bought these before?? Super comfortable.
  14. You've all convinced me this is a better-safe-than-sorry situation, so I ordered a couple on Amazon tonight. Thanks!!
  15. ^^i I agree with Patty on cabinet purging....I'm planning on cleaning out my pantry and donating to the food pantry!
  16. I just got my date today--August 7th!! I just have to do 2 weeks at 1200 calories, then the last 48 hrs will be liquid only--I can handle that. I'm down about 40 lbs over the 5 months leading up to this....ready to really start making progress, I want to drop another 140. Which sounds like a crazy high amount, but I know it's possible!
  17. Star, which website has this deal available? I'm not finding a specific website for Syntrax...lots of places selling sampler packs, but not the deal you posted....help and thanks!

    Question!

Most insurance companies count calendar months--my 6 month diet started on Feb 13 and I will be done July 1, even though that's technically only 4 1/2 months.
  19. That's good! I need my own "beck and call boy" ....luckily my 6 yr old son can go to his dad's house for a few extra days and I can stay at my parents' while I recover.
  20. You and your sister are doing this together? That's awesome! It will be great to have each other for support.
  21. July is my goal!! Working on insurance required diet now, psych stuff is 1/2 done, meeting with exercise physiologist next week.
  22. ...cream pudding mix is pretty much the best thing ever. Yum!!

    Weight loss presurgery

I started my insurance required 6 month diet on Feb 13...I'm down 18 lbs. in just under a month, which I know will slow soon! I'm following Atkins, which I've had success with in the past.
