Hey ladies! I didn't really know where else to post this, and since women are the ones that will most understand how emotional I've been lately, I thought this was the perfect place!

I had an incident with crying in a Chinese restaurant today.

I wrote about it in a brand new blog I'm starting, it's the first post actually. Please read it and let me know what you think, and if you can relate.

First let me say I loved your story and the experience you had was really a sad thing. I can see why you would cry, it feels like you will never be able to eat like you use to and really you wont but at least the last meal where you could eat without a care should be something that will make you smile about it. You ended with something that was just a visual eye sore and did not sound like it was going to be good. But just think at some point you will be able to have chinese again just not to the degree as you use to do it. Look at what the end result will be, A NEW YOU!!!

I'm so sorry that happened I can totally understand where you are coming from. My surgery is at the end of the month and while I tell myself there is no need for "food funerals" there's this part of my brain that says "better eat it now". The best thing out of all this is that you didn't set yourself back by eating that meal. I have a feeling the guilty feeling would have been worse. Good luck on your journey.

Believe me, if I could have eaten it, I would have!! It was completely inedible. We even had to throw it away as soon as we got outside because the smell from it in the car was making me sick.

I haven't had too many "food funerals" but Chinese food definitely is one I'll never be able to eat the same again. (The rice is my favorite part!)

The lady I'm renting from just got the surgery 3 months ago and every day she's been telling me "eat what you want now! Food will never be the same!" So, while I haven't overindulged in anything, I haven't been dieting either! It was very strange after a life of perpetual dieting not to be counting anything. And wouldn't you know it, I didn't gain a single pound.

Wait until after you are sleeved and you sit down, excited about a meal you really want to eat, but just cannot do it for whatever reason. Some of my old favorites don’t sit well at all and I’ve developed an aversion to them (any type of potato makes me really sick….who knew?)

Haven't shed tears, but have been really ticked-off and frustrated about not being able to eat with abandon! food just isn’t the entertainment or social outlet it was before.

However, I will admit to crying in the fitting room when I slid into a size 12 jeans over the weekend. The feeling of gratitude/miracle/amazement was simply overwhelming. Here is to wishing you tears of joy AFTER your sleeve! Hugs and safe surgery next week!!!

I found that the first month was the toughest to "let go" of the food. Then, for some reason, my focus changed in week 6. I hope that this happens for you as well. This can be a stressful process. Your decision to share this will help others here. I hope the sharing was therapeutic for you.
