Apparently you can't rant in a rant forum.... UNLESS you have a whole bunch of dots under your picture.

Wait.. Who the hell is Ed?

Heh.. Alex can play "dr kervorkian of the thread" all he wants :D we always manage to resuscitate a thread.

I'm all for a discussion on politics, not so sure about religion. However and despite my preferences, I would have thought neither of these are appropriate for this type of website.

However, nor is, as I have seen and seems fairly prevalent; is individuals dominating forums and engendering a 'them and us' mentality. That is tantamount to bullying - no matter how much alleged 'humour' is deployed as subterfuge or smiley faces to soften the sarcasm. Although it's a subtle and insidious form of bullying, it is still bullying nonetheless.

Just a point for consideration, Ed?

You never heard of a talking horse?

Seriously.. That's in reference to the flippin' horse. Ok, maybe this thread does need to put to death. Sheesh!

Your right I need to get on my treadmill..

Bye! :D

Question....what constitutes ranting about other members? I know calling someone by name....but what about when a poster is vague but just singles out a group of people?

I've seen many a thread get shut down because it singles out newer members and insults them, but there are threads all the time that will to a certain degree insult the vets because why? They know what they're talking about?

http://www.verticals...er/#entry946864

As an example. Not trying to make a big deal of this thread here but it does that very thing. As a vet I read that thread and feel like whatever knowledge I might have to share with newer members is looked down upon. These threads happen regularly and they don't seem to get shut down. The original post in this very thread has the same tone.

It sounds a bit like a double standard. We shouldn't criticize someone because they're new and don't know as much as we'd like them to....but we can criticize those who do know....because they know and are trying to share that information.

So where is the line drawn?

Oh....and to add.....look at all those dots. I must be a judgmental ass.

I think you are great!!! Your posts, and several other vets, help me so much as I am only 12 weeks out. It's so helpful to hear your experiences and know what to expect going forward. I just want you to know that you are appreciated :D

Let me clarify on my definition of repercussions. What I mean is that his or her posts have not been removed and I know this because I still see them there.

My main message behind my posts is that it is a double standard. Ranting about members is based on perception of a few. I disagree with some of the posts that have been deleted and some that were not. I understand the rules. I really get hung up on the name calling. I think it is blatantly making fun of other members.

As I believe alex has said before...this community is one that has been bullied etc. For a life time...something to that extent...name calling is a form of judgemental bullying.

It will never, ever be 100 % fair because it's based on a human beings perception of definitions and I understand that, but I can still make my opinion known.

I have already. And the name calling posts are still there. So if that's not against terms service than maybe it should be. Respect of other members does not resort to low blows.

Because perhaps my eyes are deceiving me..
