Drinks.....

So we are in Pensacola this week for vacation, which means eating out way more than we would otherwise.

I do not order anything to drink when we go out because I am there to eat and can't do both at the same time.

Well I am wondering, what kind of reactions do you guys get when you don't order a drink?

Last night our waitress asked for our drink order and I politely said nothing for me thank you. She then responded by saying "not even Water? What about tea or lemonade? Or do you want a diet coke?" When I told her again no thank you ill have nothing to drink, she rolled her eyes at me and made a rude face.

:/

You know yourself best. If you don't want it at the table then there you go. We aren't here to appease them. I usually get a water or unsweetened tea and have a sip or two then I ask for a to-go cu

  I have gotten the funniest reactions when I tell waiters i don't want anything to drink. What I found that works is ordering a glass of water but letting it sit there. it doesn't cos

and I was just like you. 50 years of habit to break! One of the first benefits i realized even before surgery is that i could taste much more depth in the food once i stopped drinking with meals.

Who cares what a waiter thinks

I didn't leave her the same amount of tip I would usually leave. She was lacking in all areas of service.

I wasn't exactly complaining about her reaction, just asking what others have experienced.

To the people who can drink right up until you eat, I don't know how I'd feel if Isis that, haven't tried it. My doctor has recommended to stop drinking 30 minutes prior to eating and then wait 45 minutes after.

They all say something different. Mine is 15 mins prior, 20-30 mins to eat, 30 mins after .....

Your NUT wasn't Katie at Forest Park, was she?

(That's exactly what she told me and so far she's been right)

Yep. Nice younger girl. She makes a lot of sense to me. They just seem to be able to keep it real.

While it is different now that I am sleeved, I can still order in most any restaurant. I have traveled a good deal since surgery (4 months now) and I am finding it increasing easy to find good things to eat. (and drink) I was really nervous at first but now it just seems normal. I think my very supportive husband has been more concerned that there is something for me when we go out. LOL!

I had the same thing happen so now I get a water and move it away from me. I'd prefer not to have any liquid near me because I grab it without thinking. I am doing better with that.

I learned a lot from her - I don't regret those sessions a bit.
