    Best and worst "compliments"

Best: my doctor(pcp) told me he didn't even recognize me in the waiting room and told me I was doing a great job. Weirdest::I am a teacher and when I came back to school in August my boss kept telling me I had such a nice tan and was getting dark. (She didn't know I had the surgery and you could tell she saw something different in me but wasn't sure what it was. Awkward: when people say, I don't know what you've done but you sure look pretty now. Any "compliment" that kind of makes it seem like you looked like complete crap before your surgery Funniest: I was telling my best friend how I hope I keep some of my butt as I continue to lose. And she told me now you can actually tell I have a butt! lol before my belly and back had so much extra fluff that it really minimized my rear and made me look like I had no junk in my trunk. Now I am evening out some so my butt sticks out more. Yay!

    Pickle juice?

Per my doctors response to this exact same question- go for it. It's liquid and not acidic enough to bother you. He told me I can have a sip or two but it obviously has no nutritional value so you shouldn't be drinking it all day.
  3. There are things that I can't tolerate any longer, but nothing that I don't like because of a change in tastes. If anything I like more things now. Before I never liked spicy foods, now I can't have enough spice!
  4. I had the same problem. Take a Benadryl it is like magic!!!

    Weighy loss

I lost 30 in the first 2 1/2 weeks, but it slowed down quite a bit since then. I've only lost 7 pounds in the last 3 1/2 weeks though.
  6. I am in Lafayette and work in New Iberia. You?
  7. So I was 3 weeks out as of Tuesday. I lost 30# in the first 2 weeks and nothing in the 3rd week. I know this is the time for a stall. The thing I am concerned about is that I am actually not eating enough. I can eat pretty much all foods. My doctors diet seems to progress quicker than others. I go swimming everyday and ride a recumbent bike. But I have gained 2 pounds. I do have to say I do not have regular bm's. So I feel like I am crazy and I must be the only person on the planet to have the sleeve and gain 2 pounds!!! Any suggestions?
  8. I am in louisiana too!!
  9. So we are in Pensacola this week for vacation, which means eating out way more than we would otherwise. I do not order anything to drink when we go out because I am there to eat and can't do both at the same time. Well I am wondering, what kind of reactions do you guys get when you don't order a drink? Last night our waitress asked for our drink order and I politely said nothing for me thank you. She then responded by saying "not even Water? What about tea or lemonade? Or do you want a diet coke?" When I told her again no thank you ill have nothing to drink, she rolled her eyes at me and made a rude face. :/

    Drinks.....

I didn't leave her the same amount of tip I would usually leave. She was lacking in all areas of service. I wasn't exactly complaining about her reaction, just asking what others have experienced. To the people who can drink right up until you eat, I don't know how I'd feel if Isis that, haven't tried it. My doctor has recommended to stop drinking 30 minutes prior to eating and then wait 45 minutes after.

    Drinks.....

Ill probably just suck up the weird faces and not order it at all. I also have noticed how nice it is to really taste things and not have taste buds overloaded by the taste of a coke or tea. I also finding myself wanting to try more things where before I wouldn't.

    Drinks.....

You're so right and so wrong. liquid is like heroin for me. I miss being able to drink so much.

    Drinks.....

I don't wanna be tempted to drink it while I am waiting for my food. That's why I don't just order a water.

    do you ever?

I think that was my biggest shock. I was apparently in extreme denial about how much I was eating and what portions I thought were normal! I know eating 3 ounces isn't exactly normal either but it's normal for a sleever. Anyway, I have been to a few restaurants post surgery and am amazed at how much food is served. My husband has cut down his portions substantially. So now when we go out to dinner we order something we both like. We share it and still bring leftovers home. It's great. And we save so much money!!

"you must feel so much better now..."

Maybe it's just me, but no matter what I did before surgery, wore my hair differently, bought a new dress, wore make up, etc. my coworkers would say "wow you look like you've lost weight, you're looking good". So I'd just respond by giving them a smile. After the surgery people have told me crazy stuff, like "before surgery you looked swollen, now you don't" or "you can really just tell in your face". But to be honest I could care less about what anyone says. I feel like I lived my life long enough basing how I felt on others comments. Now they can all kiss my shrinking butt!! Life is really too short to think too much on what other people say.
  16. I remember being wheeled to the operating room a d that's it for a while. I wasn't very coherent in the recovery room, I kind of panicked because I felt like I couldn't breath, and I am pretty sure they shot something in my IV for me to shut up. And then about 2 hours later I woke up in the hospital room to my husband and mother.
  17. I do have some fiber gummies so I will make sure i am using them more often. Also I did speak to my dr about not being regular and he said it was normal for the amount of food I am eating and it will get better the further long I am. I am not constipated at all. As far as eating the pickles 3 weeks out I asked my doctor about that too and he said whatever floats my boat. He told me a lot of people he has worked with end up craving pickle juice because the flavor is so intense. I do have to say I could probably live off of pickles and pepper jack cheese lately. Tart and spicy is all I want. My goal for the rest if the week is focusing on my Protein and fluids and taking my fiber gummies. Ill get the scale moving and some other things moving while I am at it!
  18. Thank you guys!! I normally weigh every Tuesday but I have decided to go every other Tuesday so I won't be so hard on myself. I think after the initial 30# it just freaked me out!!

    Lets be honest...

My doctor told me that he had a patient die after the surgery from several complications. He also told me that this person was very heavy, had several illnesses related to their weight(including some kind of blood problem) and was not up and moving when they should have been. I took my chances. Because honestly, at 376 pounds and 28 years old I was as good as dead anyway. I will be 3 weeks out tomorrow and at my 2 week appt I was down 30 pounds..... I am living!!!
