The skin around all my incisions did get red and itched. It ended up being some type of reaction to the steri strips even now the skin is dry and took a while to look better after the strips were removed. My strips never fell off so after I had my two week post op my dr said they are fine and to remove the strips. The irritation started about a week or so post op.

Oh the red raised irritation started out on only one incisions and then over the week started on the rest.

Hmm, only 2 fell off and I just removed the other 3 and that'd when I noticed the redness and irritation.... I'm a week and 2days post op....

Call doctor in am. Either take some Benadryl by mouth or get some cream to apply around the area. Is either a relation to the steri strip or the solution they used to clean the area before the surgery. In the future you should tell your regular doctor hat you may have an allergy to tape. It is something that should go on your medical history.

me too, but all OK now.

The larger incision was raised for me as well....the bump may be the internal stitches that they used. I actually had one of my internal stitches pop through and had to snip it off with finger nail clippers. It is normal for some itching around the cites while the skin is healing. If it gets red and hot is when you need to really worry. Call the doc if you are nervous about it. Good luck! :)

I was told to go ahead and use the benedryl cream I have for the itching and to get some liquid benedryl to work from the inside incase it's an allergic reaction...... I hope this works..... She said if its not an allergic reaction then it could be yeast.... I pray this benedryl works!!!! GN
