I need help!

My mom is being sleeved today. She's also getting her gall bladder taken out. She went into the OR at 1:30. It's now 4:45 and she's still n there. In this normal? I don't want to freak before I have to. I'm at home because my younger son is very sick, but my grandfather (who is 86 and partially senile) is at the hospital with her.

Se also had a bad ulcer that they had to cut out.

Does this seem way too long? I'm straying not to panic!

I hope she will eventually be able to be sleeved. Its a setback but hopefully it's treatable.

Bummer she couldn't get her sleeve today! But im glad she'll go into surgery healthy instead of risking a potentially dangerous surgery.

Sorry to hear all you've and your mom went though today. Glad she's ok and recovering. As soon as you mentioned ulcers I figure that was what the time in the OR was being dictated by.

A major reasoni had to wait 18 months to be sleeved was due to ulcerations. They originally removed as much as they could and stopped the bleeding, but there was no way they would sleeve on such an ulcer mess. When they removed my band and cleaned things up it was a 5 hour surgery. (of course I coded so that probably took up some time too ;) )

I'm happy your mom's surgeon knew not to proceed with the sleeve.. It's the best for your moms health. When she's healthier she will have a much greater chance of a complication free recovery when being sleeved

{{{ hugs to you both}}}

Not at all. I was under for 4 hrs due to scar tissue. It's better that they take their time.
