Ok' date=' so this is how it went....

8am went to the Bariatric Center and did pre-op, went over procedures and post op diet with nurses, got weighed, etc. Then walked next door to the hospital to Admitting, paid copayment, etc. them was escorted to Surgery, where I waited about 5 minutes before moving to my surgery room.

At that point I changed into my gown, and put a pair of funky support hose. Lots of people came by to go over the identical info with me, including my doc, the anesthesiologist, surgery nurse, etc. they took some blood, put in my IV, gave me Emend for nausea and sleepy stuff, and next thing I'm waking in the recovery room.

A bit later I was moved to my regular room. Bariatric patients here get private rooms. I have an automatic inflator thing on my legs over the support hose to prevent clots, and an automatic blood pressure sleeve.i have mouth swabs for dryness, but the also let me swish with hot tea as long as I don't swallow. I was trying to go no morphine, but found it was too much, so I broke down and took the morphine and I'm much better. I was given a Lovanox shot in the tummy to prevent clotting.

Have been walking around the floor twice, peed twice (not much), and have been doing my blower device to exercise my lungs. Overall, I'm doing OK. I'm in Del Sol Medical center in East El Paso with Dr. Acosta and United Healthcare. My care has been excellent.[/quote']

Thanks so much for the play by play...it really helps me to know precisely what to expect, though I'm aware that it varies from person to person. Congrats to you and best wishes for a smooth recovery! :)

just got word I'm approved by insurance...8/28 is the big day!

Cheated on preop went to outback and ate like a pig bbq ribs full order and cake and Soup and beer.. Damn... Surgery aug 21 coming up next week..

Ribs are definitely a test of the will power! I had a bite or 2 this weekend. I chewed but didn't swallow  not one of my prouder moments. It was satisfying at the time, felt like crap afterwards! Hang in there!!! Its almost our time. Only 8 more days to go!!!!!!!!!

I just got a call and my surgery has been approved for August 23rd! I'm on the verge of backing out. Scared to death! It's getting too real!

Well I made it through surgery and my first night I'm feeling OK just pretty tired but I'm walking and sipping slow on my broth good luck to everyone else on their upcoming surgery

What is pre-testing? I go in tomorrow. My surgery is Monday.

Wishing all of the 8-13 sleevers the best of luck! Hope you all have smooth surgeries and speedy recoveries!

Okay thanks. I'm so nervous.

How's everyone August post opers doing thus far? I'm 6 days post op and getting bored with this liquid diet.
