mouth feels dry

Does anyone know what causes dry mouth or what could be done to help it. I am 10 days post op and drink about a gallon of water per day and it doesnt feel refreshing...there's no ahhh after taking a sip or 10. It constantly feels dry...what can I do? Will this change?

thanks...this helped me because I was also suffering the dry mouth, like Janice...I am on Prevacid, though, and didn't know dry mouth was a potential side effect

Have you tried flavorings - the mio, crystal light, etc. Dry mouth has been a long time problem for me and worse now that I am on pre-op diet. The flavorings give my mouth something to savor and salivate over!

All the flavors taste too sweet...I got the biotene mouthwash that someone suggested and its helping. I guess my mouth wasn't dry but more that I wasnt getting satisfied like when you say ahhh and I think that's because since I'm always drinking I'm not really thirsty...thanks for the advice
