  • If its really bad you may want to go to the drugstore and buy a fleets enema

  • I know it's no fun.. I had some terrible times in the beginning with constipation. You just want to be careful to not let it go to long and get impacted..

  • Miralax in a hot drink works for me.

I know it is horrible. I understand your pain! Another bit of advice that I read and helped me is when you're on the toilet, elevate your feet so you're more in a squating postion. I tipped my empty garbage can on its side, put my feet up there and it helped alot. I read that by being in a more squating position it aligns your body to more easily eliminate. Good luck, hope it all comes out okay ;)

I haven't been having a problem with constipation since I added a serving of Kashi Go Lean Crunch to my daily diet. 9 g of fiber!

Ok I had to give in and use fleet enema. It still hurt but at least it worked a lil. I'm not 100% but I sure do feel much better

I bought fleet enema, Fiber n more miralax... Can I do fiber n miralax together?

Chris I'm still on my soft foods diet on Monday I will be 3wks post op so I don't think I can add kashi golean crunch to my diet yet :-( so I will try the orange fiber stuff

Butterfly ill try they squatting thing too

Thanks for all your advice

Glad your feeling a bit better I don't miss those early days and constipation :(

It should be fine to take fiber supplements and miralax together....

Thanks Laura for recommending the fleet enema I had no idea what it was n when I was reading the box at CVS I'm gonna admit I almost chickened out in buying it but I'm glad I didn't n I'm glad u posted about it otherwise I would have never known

I have used milk of magnesia it helped me out a few times.

Lol I'm married to a PA who works in the ER

So in the early days he would tell me when I got impacted "we have two choices enema or I can slip on a glove and manually disimpact you"

:o

Hehe that man would do anything for me :P

But I'll stick to the fleets if the occasion should arise again.

I took a screen shot of my doctor's recommendations. Hope it helps. (This is the first time I've attached a picture here so I hope it works!)

Laura like I said u r one lucky woman lol but yes fleets would be my choice too.

Melody that's great next time ill look into these recommendations first prior to fleets but I'm glad fleets took all of 5min to work but I read its not best to use often I will be using miralax too

Colace was recommended post pregnancy and post vsg. I was told it works best when taken in the morn by both hospitals. I was also told to take Senna/Senokot at night. Two colace two senna. Works great. I am 3 weeks post surgery and down to one colace every other day.

I wonder if the original poster ever pooped.

Yes I did lol... I went to the ER last Tues and they gave me a warm soap suds enema which got the ball rolling but I finally emptied out today and it was still pretty hard :-/ But hopefully I can stay moving and hopefully it's pain free. I've just started Miralax once a day along with the Colace. Btw does anyone know how long you're supposed to take Miralax. Bottle says no longer than seven days. I'm two days in...

My girlfriend's son has been on it for two years. I think he takes half a capful in the morning.

Not that I recommend that but I do know someone who has been on it prolonged.
