I'm 5 days out, doing well physically, but emotionally, I'm not in a good place. I keep saying, "Why did I do this?!" I cry. I'm scared of the future. AND, this is NOT me. Please tell me this will pass and ill feel "good" soon. I feel like I'm not connected to this world anymore. It's sad and lonely... Help. What did you do to get out of this funk, if you had one?

I talked to people about. I created a YouTube diary to remind me of where I started and where I want to be someday. I've never felt better, but to get here, I had to find the joy in other things, more meaningful things than food. You'll get there - 5 days out, you are allowed to feel this way. Heck, you're probably in the grieving process! Hang in there - it gets better every day :)

I think Kirk is right at 5 days out most of us had several "what the hell did I do to myself" moments.

I have to say in the first month I had on and off depression...sometimes it was food related, I wanted to eat the way I used to and couldn't.

Think about it, most of us ate for comfort and we just did this major scary thing and we are in pain AND we had our security blanket taken away!!

It does get better, just know that this is a normal part of the process and at 4 months I can say I feel pretty good :)

I was hands down at my all time low around the same time. You have to realize that we went from being able to (over)indulge in our favorite foods, to being on a liquid diet for (sometimes) weeks at a time. And even when you can "eat" again, it's not what you want to eat again. I will say this... It does get easier the further out you get. The first two weeks were the hardest for me. Once you can have soft foods, you realize that you have a whole new appreciation for the simplest foods.

You have a wonderful support group here... We have allllllll been where you are and have dealt with the same emotions and issues.

Hang in there... ;)

I got down a few days after surgery. You'll get back up there though, just takes a bit. There are so many changes going on with your body right now.

And for the record, Kirk has been my savior more than once.

It will get better. I felt the same way. Be good to yourself and let yourself grieve the loss of your body part. It's a natural feeling but it will pass.

You're right on track! It will pass. I had my breakdown on day 7. I may have more for the next couple months, but after my day 7 I know I will get past it.

I was so emotional, thinking how will this affect my identity I've always been big. It's a hard pill to swallow thinking ill be a different person, but ill be a healthier person. My hardest thing right now is I actual feel hungry, everyone else says they didn't even want food! But I literally am so hungry on the liquid diet!

I was sleeved December 10. Down 55 pounds. Have always been "big" as you say. I am going on vacation Friday and went shopping- bought clothes 2sizes smaller than my "always been 'big'" clothes AND IT FELT GREAT. Now I say to myself, (in a happy tone) "what have I done to myself AND why didn't I do this sooner.! :)

This will pass. Give yourseft a little time and you too will feel it.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
