Preop Diet...

I am scheduled for surgery on March 27. I stated my 2 week clear liquid diet yesterday and I am starving. I need help, support, encouragement, ect.....

So how did you all survive the two weeks before surgery...I feel like this is going to be the hardest part.

I am on day 14 of my pre-op diet and days 1-4 were definitely the hardest for me. After that I stopped being hungry and the only issues I had were head hunger. My DH has also been great support through it. I've lost 17lbs so far and that right there is great motivation also. You will get through it, just imagine the new you and remember why you are doing this in the first place! Good luck!

Great job! When's surgery?

I am 16 days post op and just wanted to dish out some.encouragement :) YOU ALL CAN DO THIS!!!! Believe me, the preop diet sucks majorly!!! But you can do it!!! I cheated on the preop diet. And cheated. And cheated. I was terrible. But looking back i wish i had followed it more. It was such a shock mentally after surgery not being able.to have anything pretty much!!! Im being forced to deal with my food addiction. And it sucks. But maybe if you guys can face the addiction by choosing to preop, hopefully it will be a little easier postop. Anyways, just wanted to put my two cents in. Dont let anyone tell you this is the easy way out bc youre already learning its def not!!! Youre making this decision for YOU AND YOUR HEALTH. It will be worth it!!!

Also maybe a little help.... only 2 wks post op and my knees dont hurt anymore!!! Thats amazing for me :) i can hop down the stairs now in the mornings and not hobble down like i need a walker and im 80 yrs old lol

I start my pre-op diet April 15. It's two weeks of 3 protein shakes a day plus one small meal. The last three days is just clear fluids. Not looking forward to that part.

I'm having surgery on Tuesday (OMGOSH) Yaaa... Day one of my pre-op diet was the most challenging.. i wanted to eat everything around me. Day 2 I was extremely cranking, wanted to strangle everyone lol... Day 3 went smoother i think because i weighed myself that morning and i was 4lbs down so it motivated me to hang in there. Today is day 6 and I am fine. Hang in there it is all worth it.!!!

I went to TGI fridays yesturday.... NOOOO i didn't cheat which i thought i was gonna go crazy... i had a cup of veggies with salmon. (part of my preop is shake, snack, shake, snack and dinner redm meat, chicken or fish with veggies or salad. I'm so proud of myself. Yaa!

HANG IN THERE... it gets better.

Thanks for the encouragement!! And you are doing so well! My diet consists of protein shakes, veggie broth, sugar free water ice and Popsicles. And sugar free jello. I keep looking at the paper thinking I'm missing something like at least a meal a day or some vegetables.... Not the case, it says NO FOOD in bold letters :(

It gets easier after a few days. You will start to feel indifferent about food.
