When Did You Begin Taking Vitamins Post-Op?

The information packet I received from my surgeon's office says to use the Bariatric Advantage crystals in protein shakes three times each day as soon as I'm discharged from the hospital. Then, on another page it says I can begin taking a chewable multivitamin a week after my surgery. I'd rather wait 'til a week after to take a chewable. The crystals don't sound desirable at all.

Hi Khloe. I was sleeved on March 4th and I started taking chewable multivitamins the day after I was released from the hospital. I got the kids chewable Flintstones with iron. I take one in the morning and one at night. Hope that helps.

I started taking my vitamins in the hospital (the nurse gave them to me) and I continued once I got home.

Chewables 3 days post op. Tablet form 6 weeks post op.

Is having your abdomen cut open in multiple places desirable? A lot of what we have to go through pre and post op isn't desirable, but they're things we have to suck up and deal with. Having to add vitamin crystals to your protein drinks for a few days will be the least of your worries, so I wouldn't waste time obsessing over it. It'll be over and done with before you know it and then you can complain about how bad the chewables taste :D

My surgeon wants us to wait at least 2 weeks- and do a chewable. Honestly it's up to you, you'll be ok if you don't have a vitamin for a few days!
