So I am 8 days out of surgery. I have my tape still over my incisions. The tape is lifting but I am breaking out in welts and itching like crazy. I can't stand it.

I have steri strips and am itching like crazy. My strips are lifting but don't look like they are budging any time soon. No welts though. I would call the Dr. Good luck!

Are you taking anything, Benadryl?

Looks like a reaction to the tape. Id call md ask if u can take them off or and apply some dermabond.

No. I think that my itching may be from healing, nothing is inflamed, no redness, just itchy at the sites. Hoping they heal soon. You might just want to touch base with your doctor before it worsens - he may be able to prescribe you something for the inflammation/reaction.

I would take a Benadyl and can my doc in the morning. Maybe some anti itch cream around the site (Not directly on it.)

I just cant stand it anymore. It's making me irritable. I'm going to call tomorrow.

8 days is a bit long for tape and even steristrips. I'm sure you'd be fine if it was taken off. We remove staples 5 days out. The itching is most Likely the healing but the redness and welches look like an allergic reaction to the tape. Hope u get better soon!

I had the same problem. I trimmed the lifted areas that were no longer sticking. To quell the itch, I swabbed a little rubbing alcohol on the red areas. It felt cooling and removed the tape residue that was making me red and itchy.

Same problem. As soon as steri strips fell off, I washed all the residue (adhesive). It took a few days after that for the itching to go away. Now it's better and almost all redness is gone. Surgeon said I could take Benadryl.

I have an allergy to adhesive and yours looks very similar to what i had last time i had a reaction. Even after the tape came off i had a red hive the size and shape of where the tape touched for like a week after.

Sorry that benadryl isnt helping that would be my only advice besides a cool damp cloth on the hives to maybe help ease the discomfort. Just careful on the incisions.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
