Holy Restriction

Two weeks post op. Doctor switched me to soft mushy foods and fluids no problem. Mushy food...oh my tightness after 2 bites.

I don't eat "bites". I dip my spoon into the thick liquid, pull it straight out, and kinda lick what sticks to the spoon. It doesn't hurt to swallow this way.

How much have you lost. And how much purée cold you eat. In a typical day. I'm 12 days out. I have two protein shakes. A half banana. Cottage cheese 1/4 cup twice

I was lucky to get 1-2 oz down for first week. I am about 7 now and get 3-4 oz down. Strange belly noises and tight are normal

I was like Tawnie. I went on softs at two weeks. My first day on softs, I ate 1 TB cream of wheat and 1/2 a scrambled egg. By week 3, I could eat 2 oz or 2TB at a time. I am 29 days and my restriction has not changed. I can drink fluids with no problem. 8 oz of fluid in 15 minutes is a breeze.

Yep, sounds about right. I tell people all the time they'll go from "starving" on liquids and full liquids/soft mushies to unable to eat more than a few bites on mushies. It's true and it's amazing how much your perspective can change. For me, eating went from being something I missed to being a chore.

I had issues eating a significant amount of food until sometime between six and nine months post op, and until more than one year post op a single egg scrambled with cheese was my absolute limit.

Good luck! This is why every bite counts and we push Protein first. When you can only eat a few bites, you need to make them count, and hit the shakes/protein drinks in between.

I had surgery on the 19th and with pre-op, I have lost 31-32lbs. You are able to eat bananas? I can't eat more than two bites of anything.

It hurts to swallow? That's not good.
