Can you tan after sleeve surgery?

I always tan 2x per week to keep my eczema under control...just wondering if anyone knows when it might be safe to start again. I'm 9 days post-op

Sure just wait until you're mostly healed up from the outside to avoid infection. (3-4 weeks) and you could just wear a cami or something over your incisions for a few months.

I would check with my doctor.

I didn't think to ask my Dr about it... I started tanning again after 2 months post-op. I have an appointment tomorrow, hopefully I think to ask him, just to make sure.

My paperwork says do not expose incisions to sunlight.

It's funny I just went to my 1 month post op class tonight and they brought this up. I've already layed out twice since surgery...oops. They said tonight to wait a year because it makes your scars darker. I thought the sun would make them heal faster. I live in Arizona so it was warm enough to lay out a few weeks ago.

This topic came up last night when I went to a support group. They said that you should wait several months because it can make your scars darker. If you keep them covered I would assume all would be fine. I am almost 3 weeks post op and I plan on starting to go to the tanning bed in about another 2 weeks, but I will be covering my abdomen.
