Struggling in hotel room

Recommended Posts

This week is my first week traveling for work since surgery. The way I used to survive was either drinking, eating, or all the above. Now I'm in my room trying not to eat because of boredom. Brought my shoes to get on treadmill just can't get the motivation. I'll be home Friday so just a few more days. I now know one of my mental demons to fight

Are you pre or post op? My first time traveling post op was a struggle. I ended up surviving off Greek yogurt and Protein Drinks. You can do this. It's hard but so worth it! :)

How long has it been since your surgery? I'm pre-op but I am curious about traveling for work after surgery. I know that I will struggle as you are describing. Also worried that traveling will be very tiring. I'm worried that I won't be able to concentrate and work when I get to my destination. Try to get your mind off food. Maybe read a book or play a game on your computer/phone. I know it's hard. Good luck!

Make yourself go to the treadmill, it will change your attitude, you will feel successful and in control. I made myself go exercise so many times when I DID NOT WANT TO & now my head quit messing me and I feel fabulous. 10 minutes of forcing yourself will lead to 24 hours of being happy with yourself, and then you do it again. Rock on.

I stay in hotel rooms all of the time due to work travel. I often get out in my car and explore the area. It can be very interesting. There are historical places just about everywhere you go. You may want to develop a new hobby and take photos to submit to Wikimedia.

Do they have a pool or jacuzzi you could go in. Go explore the area, try catching a movie. Hope it works out for you.

I did my first business trip I think about 2-3 months post op. It was to a destination I had been to many times. That was the hardest. I will confess that I ordered some favorite meals from favorite restaurants. They didn't taste good - that nearly broke my heart....lol. The anticipation, the build up and then... blech... this isn't what I remembered. I didnt gain, but i didn't lose that week.

Since then, business trips have been pretty easy. I am just not about the food anymore... I think I needed to go through that sad sad trip to "overcome"

Remind yourself that you no longer want to use food as recreation, that isn't the new you. Remind yourself of your goals and forgive yourself any mistakes.

I bet the next trip is easier!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
