January 6, 201313 yr Hi there! I am on Day 5 of pre-op. by day 3&4, it gets sooo much easier. Days 1&2 were the toughest and those were the days I stayed the busiest. Keep the mind busy! You can do it, today was the easiest day yet! Good luck to us on our journey.

My husband isn't supportive of the surgery so I don't know if he will help make it easier for me or not. It is cool you an your wife are able to do this together.

January 7, 201313 yr Could you all post what a day looks like in regard to you preop diet? I will be starting in a week or so... Scared and excited! Thanks For me: Breakfast: EAS Lean Protein shake mixed with unsweetened vanilla almond milk. Dannon light n fit Greek yogurt. Lunch: EAS Lean Protein Shake mixed with unsweetened vanilla almond milk. Dannon light n fit Greek yogurt. Dinner: Broiled chicken breast; steamed veggies or a big salad. Or both. Snack: raw almonds or a 3rd protein shake. It's very regimented but I need strict boundaries or I will deviate and eat uncontrollably. I'm not saying this is the best way, but its what I need. I'm trying to do 1200 calories a day so I lose weight preop safe and healthy. I hope I'm doing it right! I would just listen to your surgeon. Amanda Rae

Amanda Rae[/quote'] Are you going to do the 2 week liquid diet?
January 7, 201313 yr Are you going to do the 2 week liquid diet? 3 days of Clear liquids, starting 3 days b4 surgery, is what my coordinator forwarded to me. Amanda Rae
January 7, 201313 yr Are you going to do the 2 week liquid diet? I started my preop diet extra early with the blessing of my coordinator due to my high BMI. That's why I say talk to your surgical team about your preop. They're the professionals and we are all different. I'd never say what I'm doing is best for the next person... Amanda Rae
January 7, 201313 yr Typical day for me on my pre-preop diet (like amanda, I started early due to BMI concerns) Breakfast Protein shake made with milk, Water or coffee, 110-200 calories 25-30 grams of protein lunch- same as breakfast but lately I have been drinking half my shake for breakfast and half for lunch and not wanting the second protein shake I'm still meeting my minimum protein intake for the day so I've been skipping it. Dinner: salad with lots of leafy greens and vegetables such as cucumbers, tomatoes, etc with a small amount of low calorie dressing, a portion of lean meat (tonight was 4 ounces of 95% lean beef that I seasoned up with my homemade taco seasoning, but often I'll do 6 ounces of flounder) Snacks: choose from the following but stay under 800 calories total 1 egg ounce of nuts half of a piece of fruit lately I've been enjoying some juice as a snack.. before you get too excited, it's cucumber, celery, kale, lemon and ginger juice that I make myself and I add a bit of stevia for sweetness. I find the juice helps keep things "moving along" and I'm still able to stay under my calories with it.. Plus my nutritionist wants me taking in as much dark leafy greens as possible... my juice had 8 cups of raw kale in it!!! Once my actual 2 week preop diet starts it will be similar except I won't get the Snacks... Just two or three shakes, a lean meat and a salad. Then after the two week preop, I'm on clears for three days. They said no protein in the clears, just clear or translucent sugar-free fluids.
