Diahrrea After Surgery?

So I was sleeved 11/28. I had a really hard time taking in Any liquids - even clears without pain and nausea. I stayed an extra day and upon discharge I was able to sip water, powerade and a few spoonfuls of soup. Around day 3 I started having loose watery stool that happens around 10x a day. It's not just when I eat or drink. I'm hardly taking in enough liquids - about 40oz a day of water/ gaterade and a few bites of cream of wheat so I don't think it's lactose. I'm just afraid I'm working so hard to get the fluids in and they are going out faster. Has anyone else had this happen.

Yes, this is normal. And believe me when I say to never trust a fart!! Not a good idea, if you know what I mean??!! Haha

  • Just an update. I called my surgeon today cause the diahrrea just seemed too much to me. Seemed like more was coming out than I was taking in. He had me come up to the hospital to the Ambulatory Treat

  • Yep! Totally normal. I had it on Day 4 but it seems to have gone away (at least for now)

My issue is that I have diarrhea after almost every meal. Is this normal? It is an odd yellow color (TMI' date=' sorry). Not sure if I should be worried or not.[/quote']

How far out are you and do you have your gallbladder?

I am 5 weeks out and I do not have my gallbladder.

Still in the same boat- now 6 weeks out, have no gallbladder. Test showed no C. diff and I cannot correlate it to a particular thing that I eat. Thought it was one of the whey protein shakes but now it has happened even after 3 days with no protein shakes. I'm hoping it will clear up but have been hoping that for 8 weeks now (started before surgery).

9 days post op and visited the toilet many, many times today. And my stomach is growling and carrying on with noises. No pain just wondering if any one has the same problem?

I never had the loose movements' date=' but I still battle constipation. Miralax has become my best friend. The Fiber wasn't working and the Milk of Magnesia would not stay down. I am hoping this all straightens out soon. I am 7 weeks out.[/quote']

I'm having the constipation issues as well. I was sleeved on Dec 10th. I go back to the dr tomorrow and hopefully there will be some "relief" for me. Might try the Miralax; thanks!!

The noisy, rumbling, gurgling stomach is very normal. I am 3 months post op and have it every time I eat. Not sure if and when that goes away.

If u don't have a gall bladder the old Rita is common. Get on a probiotic. I use Standard Process. It helps. Take Iron which clogs you too. Get on a raw calcium and not calcium citrate. Citrate is synthetic and hard on you if no gall bladder. Use plant based products. Stick with them and you will level out.
