  1. So I was sleeved 11/28. I had a really hard time taking in Any liquids - even clears without pain and nausea. I stayed an extra day and upon discharge I was able to sip water, powerade and a few spoonfuls of soup. Around day 3 I started having loose watery stool that happens around 10x a day. It's not just when I eat or drink. I'm hardly taking in enough liquids - about 40oz a day of water/ gaterade and a few bites of cream of wheat so I don't think it's lactose. I'm just afraid I'm working so hard to get the fluids in and they are going out faster. Has anyone else had this happen.

    Best Post-op Protein sources

Unjury chicken soup is soooo good post op. some people say the unflavored is good added to crystal light. In the beginning you start slow with protein and build up to your protein goal so you should be on full liquids after 2 wks or so and I liked the premier brand shakes. Good luck

    stalls?

That's normal for the point you are at! Everyone hits a stall. You usually have to make sure u are hydrated and exercise. Make sure u are eating enough also. 800-1000 cals and eat every few hrs. You look AMAZING keep up the great work;)

    Bowling

I was wondering this too. At 5 mo I went and I've had no problem with exercise but after I had a little soreness at the main inc site. Not bad but I knew it was there. Also my inner thigh muscles hurt. Obviously bowling was working something;) doc said that soreness is norm and the incision can take a complete year to totally heal and i could continue. I had a great time and can't wait to go again!
  5. I was on liquids 2 wks and soft 2 wks. I think it's really important to not eat reg food right away cause there are staples in your stomach and that need time to heal by letting what u eat slide thru easy and not getting too full. Good luck
  6. I'm 6 months post op and I ate a chicken wing and it made my stomach hurt. This is the second time I ate something spicy and I'm not a spicy food person usually. Anyone else have that happen? Pain after eating something spicy?

    Dumping Syndrom

Can I just say also if " they" say no sleeve PTS experience dumping it could be because the patient hasn't admitted it. Who wants to admit to the doc they had dumping cause it will be telling in themself they are eating stuff they shouldn't. Also dumping isn't always just diarrhea. The symptoms are nausea, restless, elevated hr. all of which has happened to me with Ice cream. All u can do is wait on it to go away. Sooooo miserable isn't it?

    Dumping Syndrom

Ice cream will do it for sure. Prob cause sweet and fattening and slides right through. Happened a couple times to me so I'm hoping it was my last
  9. Im glad to say its been 6 months since surgery and time flew! I was 285 at highest and lost 20 pre op. Since surgery I've lost another 45 making it a 65 lb total loss and I feel great. It was a bumpy road at first cause I got sick with a stomach virus and had to go back to the hospital 2x in the first week but as soon as I got over that its been pretty easy. I can eat anything now in sm quantities , except I notice ice cream makes me sick, and I go to curves 3-4x a week. It's awesome to be able to enjoy shopping again and I love that I can get rid of my "fat" clothes. I'm do grateful for wonderful friends and family support and this forum has been so helpful!!

    Local Y, or Curves?

I chose curves and this is why- I need something quick and easy. This is a new lifestyle for me and if its too hard I won't continue. It's 30 mins a day at least 3x a week and that's a fairly easy commitment and there are alot of them so hopefully its close to you like it is for me. I also wanted something that's going to be muscle strengthening not just cardio. As we all know muscle building has great effects such as toning - which we all need losing alot if weight And more muscle mass= more calories burned on a daily basis. I do think walking and swimming is good too and I do that but curves gives me the beginning of weight training I need. Also there is the monthly measurements they do that keeps u on track - makes u accountable. So when the scale is moving slow, which it will at times , you can see inches melting away. So I've made a commitment to do curves for one year and after that time if in ready I might join a gym with a more intense workout. Also curves has Zumba now too;) good luck with your wt loss!!!!!

    popcorn.

I thought we weren't supposed to eat popcorn or nuts for a few months after surgery. I know all surgeons are different but mine said none of those things for awhile. The only time I crave popcorn is at movies so that's been really hard

    November 2012 sleevers

Wow can u believe its been 6 months!!! I haven't been on here since march- been busy. I was sleeved 11-28 and have lost 65 lbs and feel great. I was 285 now 220 , went from size 24 to an 18!! And a 16 dress. I feel so great and have really adjusted to the sleeve. I can eat anything but of coarse just a taste which is awesome! Working out 3x a week so I decided to step that up as hard as that is, since I work night shift! Hope everyone is doing well

    Stuggling

Sorry got messed up. Anyhow getting fluids in is very hard! Especially since they don't want u to drink with eating. I hardly ever get in what I need and I'm 2.5 mo postop but I just keep trying everyday. It's a habit we must get into- always having a drink in our hands. I have found myself somewhat chugging water at room temp just to get some in and never had a problem. Good luck

    My 2 month mark

I'm 8 wks out and down 45lbs total. Amazing to see the clothes getting looser. I still have problems getting my fluids in but then again I never drank much before. Some days I don't get all my protein in either- I hate those shakes these days. I can eat anything in small amts. the pain post op was completely gone at 2 wks but all of a sudden yesterday I felt a little sore on the right where that big inc is they took stomach out. Anybody else had that? Mabye I did too much and pulled something ? Beside that I'm awesome and love the sleeve!!!!
