Clothing Size

Okay so I'm down 43 pounds but still in the same clothes without any change planned soon.. Hard to believe I was that fat that I was squeezing myself into clothes that still fit after such a loss.

I've lost 20 lbs and I was thinking that this morning... how on Earth was my fat butt fitting in them??

Don't stress your clothes size. I didn't drop my first size until I was about 50 pounds down, and the sizes have been dropping quickly ever since! :) It's great in one way, but a PITA in the other, because clothes are not cheap to buy! :)

I feel the same way. I'm now down 46 lbs and my clothes are getting loose on me, but some people lose 20 or 30 lbs and are down a couple sizes. It's weird how we can all be so different. I would imagine you might be closer then you think to being down a size. I have a friend that was sleeved a year ago, and I remember her telling me at one of her appts, a few months post op, one of the bariatric nurses asked her "why are you wearing clothes that are 2 sizes to big?" She didn't think she was down any sizes yet either, but she was. I think we have a harder time seeing/feeling the changes in ourselves, we're just so used to being overweight.

Congrats on your 43 lbs, that's awesome! The smaller clothing sizes will come soon =)

I guess I'm lucky. I had my surgery about 3 wks ago. I've wore 4x pants & shirts as long as I can remember now I'm in 2x & their loose. I'm so blessed & happy to have had this surgery.

It's for sure all about where you carry your weight. Mine is mostly stomach and hips so I dropped two pant sizes fast within the first 3wks and 30lbs down. I'm now at 40 lbs down at 6wks with no further size change for now. I'm not getting discouraged because I know I will drop sizes again soon. We are for sure all very different.

Had same issue after 60 lbs. the real test was to go to the store and try on a smaller size. Yes, I can wear my Xxl tops, but can also fit into a L comfortably.

Thanks everyone! I feel better about it but still fill like the fat whale in the same clothes. Haha I know it will change, guess it will just be a few more months down the road. I was hoping for something quicker because my ex left me for my best friend and one of the last things he said to me was "you fat b***h." I have a meeting with him at the atty office and was hoping to rub it in his stupid face.

I'm so happy I'm not the only one! I was just getting so down today, I have lost 52lbs and my shirts went from xxl to xl but my pants still fit the same. Its getting so annoying and while others tell me they can definitely see change its hard for me to see because of my clothes.

I'm down 50 lbs and am still wearing the same clothes. I did try on a pair of the capris that have been tucked away for years and they fit. My problem is that I don't want to try in clothes and be disappointed since I really don't know what size I'm in. My 13 yr old told me yesterday that the shorts I was wearing were "way too big!" Love that kid! :)

I think that some wear their clothing baggy when they are larger. So what happens as you start losing weight is you don't see the changes because your clothes are baggy and always were. I like to wear my clothes form fitting, always have. During my weight loss I really notice my clothing size changes as even a little bit will show up in my clothes. Try not to by stretchy stuff, buy pants with zippers and close fitting tops; you will for sure notice the changes!!

I am actually down 4 sizes from a tight 18 to a 12!! Woohoo!! I have lost 48 pounds so far.

I know what you mean. I have lost 70 lbs and am still in my same clothes... Granted they are loose but not loose enough to go down a size. It's frustrating, but I think I stretched these clothes out so much before so that is why they still fit.

What an @$$. And that goes double for your best friend. I'm so sorry you're having to go through this. Rest assured that he'll be able to see that 43lb weight loss on you, and that soon he'll get to see you feeling healthy and fabulous, while he's still the same miserable jerk.

It took 50 lbs to go down one size for me. I started at a 24 and wear a 14 now. The smaller you are the quicker you will go through sizes. It took a good 75 lbs for anyone who didnt know that I had surgery to notice I lost weight. Just keep doing hat you are doing and the changes will happen quick!

The difference in inches between sizes up in the 20s are far greater than the difference between a size 8 and a 6. It will start to happen fast and Goodwill will be your friend.

Can't wait to be below 20's! :)
