I heard.not to take whole pills my doc said it.was.ok..

I also took whole pills...for pain...heartburn etc

My doctor said it was ok too but that they would take up the space in my stomach and I wouldn't be able to eat anything until they dissolved. I would feel full for about an hour or more depending on the size of the pill but otherwise no issues.

Whole pills are not good because your stomach being smaller cant absorb the medicine properly.

My Dr said it's fine as long as there is no enteric coating, like some vitamins have. I've been taking whole pills since week 3.

My dr told me to crush mine (none are enteric coated or time released)

I haven't had my surgery. I'm not even close yet, however what I do know is that I take meds that can't be crushed because they are extended release. Definitely NOT able to be done. <shrug> Guess I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.

The docs told me it is ok once the post op swelling goes down. It is not about absorption, it is the "stuck" feeling early on.

I have had no issues, and was not told to crush either. I am on day 5 post op!
