  1. I started my pre-op diet at 244 on 10/25/12 and was sleeved on 11/03/12. I lost fast the frist few months and then came to a DEAD stop on 01/01/13. I go up and down from 198.6 to 196. This is 60 days. I travel a ton for work. I have upped my protein per my NUT to 100 g per day but it is hard to keep it up without results. I have tried upping my fluids past 64 ounces. I exercise and have switched up what I do, although in truth with all of the travel it has only been 3-4 days per week but when it is it is an hour of cardio and some weights. I am getting so discouraged and cannot see past this stall. I am taking my meds, eating the protein, doing 5-6 meals per day, steering clear of caffeine, etc. ARGH! I lost more on Weight Watchers and didn't pay $13,000. I hear the first 6 months are the best time to lose but I am not getting past this stall and I never see anyone with a 60 day stall this early! HELP!
  2. I think this is common I definitely have had a few panics about this both before and after but I am now advancing to the "normal food" am hungry but it is completely normal and manageable, I eat the right amount and so far at 1 month out I am down 30 lbs from pre-op liquids. I couldn't have done it any other way. I've lost 22% of my excess weight in 40 days. Just keep going day by day and you will see it was the smart decision.

    4 Days Post Op... Advice?

Try a heating pad on your stomach for the gas! And don't worry, I am 4 weeks post op today, you can start to get a feel for what you can eat and drink as the days go one.

    Need To Bite

I am on day 18, soft foods. I have been taking a third to 1/2 cup of low fat ricotta cheese , putting about a tablespoon of good marinara sauce on it and about a teaspoon of really good grated Parmesan cheese. I warm the sauce first and the ricotta slightly. It is low carb, low fat and high protons and makes you feel like you are eating lasagna!
  5. Bio oil as often as you can on them. It stops the itching, smells great, doesn't cost too much (you can get it at SAMs or Costco or a drug store) and it will make the scars heal without being too noticeable.

    Ugh...sliming!

I am 17 days post op and I've had that happen twice, once where I threw up, another I just kept spitting but neither lasted more than and hour and I had immediate relief when I threw up. It was also bean soup (not sure if that is a coincidence). I'd call the doctor, that sounds like a long time for that awful feeling!

    Acid Reflux

I am not sure who said it but absolutely call the doctor. Prescriptions are so much better for you and stronger. You can't risk prolonged heartburn as it causes erosion in your esophagus. I have been on Prevacid prescription for 10 years and take it every morning on an empty stomach. Will likely take it for the rest of my life. You have to take extra calcium when on it long term but you have to do that anyhow with the sleeve so just call, it has really no side effects and the pain is gone for good.

    3 Days Post Op

I am definitely having a hard time with going slow too. I was sleeve 11/2 and my first meal out was the broth of baked potato soup at about 6 days. I had matzo ball soup last weekend with about 2/3 of a matzo ball and that was great. Today at home I had Ricotta cheese with some good grated parmesan cheese sprinkled on it with a touch of red sauce. It was like heaven.

    Halloween Sleevers

I am 11/2 and I can do 1/2 cup of cottage cheese and soups but less of things like chicken or seafood mushed up. I can actually do a whole 11 oz protein shake if I try in about an hour or sometimes less but couldn't do that much with anything but protein shakes or soup. Any thing thicker is about 1/3 to half cup 5-6 times a day
  10. I was 11/2 and really, with few exceptions, things have been great. No pain meds since the hospital, incisions are healing well, getting the walking in and vitamins are not an issue. I have introduced new foods, make sure they are super soft, and have had no real issues. I did over eat with literally THREE bites of a bean soup I made and that came back up. Otherwise, no issues. Really learning the size and capacity. Had some crab and shrimp this week and both were great. Hitting my proteins and mostly my water (although it is hard to get both but I track to keep it up). I've gone out to eat two or three times and two parties today. Most people don't know it is is shocking how little they notice! I've been able to select good foods that are soups or purée like or I just really chew a ton if it is soft food. So far I can see how I will be able to move into this lifestyle. I know it won't b easy always but I am 26 lbs in the 3 weeks since I went on pre-op liquids and two weeks post surgery. I am definitely having energy issues but I figure that will come with time! I already feel and see the difference and have a goal of hitting 40 lbs down in the first 90 days! Wish me luck!
  11. My family, I think, is done with my daily updates so I will use this forum as it is intended - to share with perfect strangers in the same boat as me. First the great news! It is three weeks since I started my pre op diet 10/25) and it will be two weeks tomorrow that I was sleeved. I have lost a total of 25 lbs, I had no complications, I have been off the pain meds in the day since day # 3 and only take them at night because I am a stomach sleeper. I already got though my first small stall about 5 days without the scale moving but now it is dropping off fast. I have been able to move into puréed and soft foods and have had no issues although I have followed the rules (moslt, I think some of what I am eating is not so much puréed but it is super soft Now the not so gre

    2 Weeks Tomorrow

And for the record, I had the soup for dinner and had no issues. I just forgot to listen to the rules and pay attention to the fact tha I was full and just because it tasted great, I should not eat more!

    2 Weeks Tomorrow

Sorry, it cut off! I have had not issues getting in my proteins and most of my water. I am back to work (desk job) and have been getting in a few miles most days. Now the not so good, I made a delicious 17 bean soup with turkey sausage yesterday, I cooked it forever so everything was super soft. It had all the normal spices so it was delicious (I have been cooking a lot of homemade soups and stews and mashing them up and they are great. They are also great because my young kids, mom and most friends don't know I had the surgery so it is easy for them to miss that I am eating anything differently than then. So what is not good? As I was cleaning up from dinner and putting the soup away I took three good sized bites of the soup (old habit). I am now experiencing my first "overfill" and it STINKS. I feel like food is stuck in my chest and I can't get it down. I had also team a drink%2

    Last Week Sleevers..lets Chat..

I was 11/2 and my incisions are absolutely scabs and itchy. I have been using Bio-Oil. It is great and will help prevent scaring. You can get it at Costco or on line. It smells great, feels great and will stop the itches and the scarring. It will stain clothes though so wear a T-Shirt once you put it on.

    Not Full After 2 Weeks

I agree I was 11/2 and can easily think an 11oz protein shake but when I started eating puréed meats, cottage cheeses, refrained beans etc, I started to feel full. It is a slightly different full but it is full. I suggest measure your food and then stop after eating it slowly and then wait. You will be full. You just have to then wait out your 45 minutes to an hour and start on your water intake. It works!

    What If?

I had the same and was in pretty good cardio shape pre surgery. I am 10 days out and now can do a three or four mile walk but at day 5 anything much was exhausting!

    Soft Foods

I am 10 days and on puréed food. Shrimp was fine for me, I mushed it up with a fork. I think the smaller ones are softer so they may go down easier. Sweet potato is another good one, refrained beans, eggs, cottage cheese, ricotta cheese, tuna, egg salad - all good.

    Prilosec?

I swallow my Prevacid whole and have since about 5 days post op. doc said ok once the swelling goes down so it doesn't feel "stuck"

    Last Week Sleevers..lets Chat..

I am 10 says out 11/2 surgery date. I must say I am doing great. No issues at all so far. I still can't wear jeans because my incisions are still sore but other than that I am good. Having some hunger but not too bad. Moved to pureed per doctors ok and had some nonfat low fat beans for lunch. That was a nice change. I also saw the scale drop for the frat time all week so I think my body is going out of the initial shock period. I admit I get on the scale every day - it was not moving at all since I came home so I am excited and hopeful this stall is breaking!

What Are You Eating For Breakfast

I am only the days out but I stick to a protein shake. It seems to be the easiest time to choke down the sweet and is starts my da with 4 gems of carbs and 35 grams of protein!

    Surgery 11/6

Cream of wheat is fine on full liquids. If you like savory make some soups and puréed to taste.

    Cabbage Soup

Absolutely yes. I have tomato soup, Campbell's has a health to-go version in a cup. Also a creamy chicken one. I also puréed their bean and bacon and a can lasted 4 or 5 meals. I made homemade split pea soup with real potatoes and big hunks of ham and then threw it in the blender a cup at a time. Indie the same with homemade beef stew now that the doctor okayed the puréed foods because i have had no issues. They are all great. I do not have much of a sweet tooth either but I like the vanilla sugar free pudding at night. I do the pure protein 35 gram canned shake for breakfast to start the protein count off right. I was 11/2 and feel great. How about you?

    November Sleevesters?

I am the same. I was 11/2 and really feeling great. I keep wondering too and praying nothing backfires. I can drink pretty normally and stop when I get that sloshy full feeling. Moved to puréed (with docs ok) And am doing well. The scale stopped at 12 post op, 20 total but I think that is my body just tying to figure it all out! The gist 24 was NOT FUN but now I am glad. Still feeling a little anxious about things but mostly great. Back to work on Monday!
  24. I was sleeved on 11/2 and feel so good I have to stop myself from doing too much. Each day gets better. Walk, do knee bends if you can. I used a heating pad on my stomach and it really helped break up the gas. I am on puréed food noe - they let me start early and I just have to remind myself to go slowly. Just breath, take the meds and move around. You will come to feel normal soon!

So Who Are Our First Sleevers ?

I had the same Sandy pushed me from the 30th to 11/2. I am on pureed food as of today too- ahead of schedule. Sticking mainly to a shake or two a day, puréed split pea soup and puréed beef stew. I made all homemade so I know exactly what is in them. I used my normal spices so I can taste something good. So far, no issues but today I ate too much of the puréed stew and I was definitely "Christmas" full off about 1/3 cup. But now I know. So far I am at a standstill at 12 lbs post op and 20 total but I think my body is just catching on to the dramatic change in eating habits.
