It's been almost three weeks since my surgery and I still am not able to eat or drink. The day after surgery my stomach swelled shut and I was givin a pic line and I'm on TPN nutrition. I went back last week and had the barium test to see if my stomach had opened yet it has slightly opened but still can't eat or drink without feeling nauseated or getting sick has this happened to anyone else and how long sis it last for

Sending prayers and positive energy for healing today, sweetie!

The dr again wanted to send me home and wait it out. I told him no. I want the scope. He said there is risk that I may get a perforation in the stomach or there is other risks too. I stood my ground! So he is going to do surgery tomorrow. Only problem is I will miss trick or treat with my kids this year.

Have they tried steroids (decadron) to decrease some of the swelling. I'm back in the hospital too, the steroids are helping tremendously, however it's still difficult getting my Fluid and Protein in. Hope this helps! Remember, you're your own advocate, stay squeeky to get things done and let them know exactly what you need and are feeling ;-)

Take care!

Okay another stupid dr choice! The dr Stopped my fluids and I will not be able to get TPN till 10 tonight I haven't had it since 8 last night. I'm already dehydrated ugh

Make sure they're still infusing fluids, you'll be ok for a bit without TPN BUT NOT FLUID!!!!

TAKE CARE!!!!

(I'm a RN, so I know a little bit healthcare wise...)

I don't know why. I can't drink how the hell does he think I'm going to stay hydrated?

I made a fuss about the fluids and he is giving them now until 10. But I may push for longer cause I'm very dehydrated right now I go to throw up and I don't even have spit anymore :0( they are being nice up on the floor and I got to pet a yellow lab therapy dog which is owned by one of my nurses and she was dressed up as tinker bell

What an idiot!!! Is he even certified in Bariatric Surgery?!

Keep pushing!!! It will work out...be your biggest advocate! REMEMBER...The squeak gets the oil ;-)

Praying for you!

This is my first time hearing about this. What causes it?

Well they did the scope and dr said he didn't know what to expect cause he had never done one early, but said the shape was correct. He said its open now but doesn't know if the pain could be caused by something else or the way the stomach is laying inside. He said we just have to wait it out!

I so give up! I'm hurting like he'll and still feel sick

So sorry you're going through this. One day it will just be a memory. Until then- *hugs* Praying for you!

Have you had a leak test yet?
