its a stomach scope to make sure there isn't any wrong in the stomach before they remove most of it. You'll be knocked out during it...won't feel a thing

It is an Endoscopy.

Esophagogastroduodenoscopy

They told me I will drink some stuff and the will take xrays. I've. Read there is people who get knocked out..

I just had mine last Friday. The scoped my esophagus, stomach down to the duodenum. I did get knocked out. The whole thing took about 10 minutes. I did not have to drink anything and there were no X-rays. Just the scope that the surgeon used to take pics. Had a couple biopsies taken as well of a couple inflamed areas in my esophagus and stomach.

I think these 2 tests are different from what I have seen EGD you are sedated and looked at with an endoscope...Upper GI you have to drink some nasty stuff( Barium) and they X-Ray you as it goes through your system...I had Upper GU and trust me you would rather be sedated and scoped...

EGD is also known as Upper GI Endoscopy...I had what some other folks on here had which is an Upper GI series which is something most also have to endure for leak testing after surgery.
