My Journey...

Ok, so about 6 months ago I went to Dr. David Kim and made the first steps towards my new life with my sister at my side. After our consult we started the insurance requirements to get approval for surgery. After my sister and I completed the required 3 month pre-op program Dr. Kim and his staff suddenly stopped returning our phone calls and e-mails. We arrived unannounced and were directed to a lab to be tested for nicotine. This was the last we hard from Dr. Kims office.

We have since found surgeon named Dr. Stowers. Now we are waiting on approval then a scheduled date for surgery. I'm so beyond ready for this. Wish us luck.

hi there -

IMO Dr. Kim's office didn't handle your situation well, he shouldn't have ignored your calls, emails - leaving you in limbo

if you are a smoker and dr wanted you to be tested for nicotine, thats ok for him to have done - i have heard this process is done - but this should have been brought to your attention earlier

i believe other doctors might also test you for nicotine - some might say you have to be smoke free for X amount of days - maybe some won't even do the WLS til you've quit

You need to follow whatever doctor tells you

good luck with insurance and pending WLS

This has been a very frustrating journey for you so far. Dr Kim is highly unethical and perhaps it's a god's send that you are not having him do your surgery. He could cause you major damage. I wish you luck on your upcoming surgery and if you are a smoker, this gives you extra time to quit. :)
