All The Single Ladies...

So, I've been reading about everyone and wanting to lose weight and be there for their spouses/kids/grandkids. Now I want to hear from the single ladies (men). How have you been now that you've lost (losing) weight? Do you have dating worthy confidence now? Have you been on dates? Have you discussed the surgery? How have you handled going out to dinner? I want all the juicy details. ^_^

Personally, the depression looms as I turn 35 in a couple days and I'm alone (no kids). I haven't been on a date in maybe 5 years. This is so embarrasing. I look forward to having the confidence to go back online.

Andy that is a very generous offer. How would you advertise it. You may become rich doing it. The more people that join the more companies will want to advertise. And pay you money to advertise on your sire. if you need a partner I am in

I brought up the notion prior in this thread and thought it would be fun to try my hand at designing and building one( I am a software developer).

From the responses so far, it would appear such a site and app for the phone / tablet would be very useful for people like us. It would specifically be for people who have gone through WLS because otherwise folks can go to any of the other online numerous sites like eharmony, etc. it would also be a fun project to work on outside of my day job as a software developer. Would folks be willing to pay for it or should it be free ( sort of my gift back to the WLS community)?

This is just me, but I would be willing to pay (if I was single of course). If you don't want to charge a fee, maybe you could have a "donate" button? It does take a lot of time and effort to develop and run something like that.

Overweight people???!!! Wow

2013 is my year....SD 12/3/12 BK NY

This had been the most productive thread I am just waiting for someone to make a negative comment since lately that is what has been happening on this site.

Aviiva we should start a thread that says 'only nice people allowed. Kindness only!'.

I wont post now where some of those people post. I'm here for friendships.

Andycharris : you should aslo do a friendship setup. Not just singles. I think there are a lot o people i'd like to get to know just as friends.

I like that only nice people need apply:-) . We need a retreat where we could all meet. Maybe a central location that would be fun

Those are really great ideas. Keep them coming. :)

@Andy the software dev- you could easily operate a WLS dating service service for profit... The way most online dating services make money is ad revenue and lead sharing/commerce.

If you are serious about it you're gonna need some help on the details- I have exp in this area... PM me if interested.

Hi Aviiva,

I must be in the dark about this. I've recently seen a number of posts about negative or unkind members but a lot of it seems to be vague terms. Are there posters here who are spamming? Are there posters here just to make fun? I'm just curious because... well hell, just because I'm nosy! :)

I think this is an awesome thing. I would love to be involved in some way - like I said, I have no experience really doing web design, except home pages when I was young, but if there's any help with ideas, or compiling stuff I'd totally be up for helping.

I love the friendship idea too - obesityhelp used to have a thread that would match you up with a random penpal, but I think the person kinda quit doing it. But maybe that could be something like it, like you could put in the options (ex: 100+ to lose, married, mothers, etc) and then it would give you the option to randomly match with someone or to be able to browse and pick.

Anyway - if you can think of any way I can help let me know! I'm all for it.

andycharriss, I think a free site would be great. It seems like there are so many people struggling financially. On the other hand, if that is impractical I think it is still a great idea and would be willing to pay.

please let us know how it goes!

My first first date ever was a success! We talked for over an hour and a half and it never got awkward. I am reasonably sure he'll want to see me again.
