I was just wondering how much weight have you lost? I'm almost down 20 pounds and I feel like I'm going slow. I started at 235 now I'm at 217. I started to do some stomach crunches 2 days ago. I try to do at least 35 crunches each night.

Congrats on losing 20 lbs!

My surgery was on July 16 and as of this morning I have lost 29 lbs. The rate of loss has slowed since the first 3 weeks. I started at 260 and was at 231 this morning. I haven't started the stomach crunches yet, but am walking at least 30 minutes a day and doing lite free weight lifting for about 5 minutes 3 times a week. My biggest struggle is getting all the Water and Protein in!

I was sleeved on July 18. I'm down 30lbs total (15 preop). I walk on the treadmill about 5x a week for 30-45mins a day, and jog for a few minutes in there.

I feel like I'm loosing slowwwwww. But, I will take it! As long as that scale keeps going down and not up, it's okay with me :)

Same here, my surgery was July 29th and I lost 10 pre-op and another 20 pounds since surgery. I also feel like I am slow moving particularly since I lost so much the first week.

Water and Protein are a daily struggle. I've been taking classes at LA Fitness 4-5 times a week.

Keep it up ladies!

I lost almost 40 lbs pre-op starting in April up through my July 17 surgery. I've lost about 21 since surgery.

I am not really worried about the speed of weight loss, though, because I assume it will be at least a couple of pounds a week no matter what, and will probably be more. If you add that up over a year, that's a lot of weight to drop in a relatively short period of time.

I'm actually looking forward to a few weeks out when I can increase my calories past 500. I want to start some weight training, and it is hard to put on any muscle at 500 calories/day. The biggest thing it has done for me, so far, is to help get an initial chunk of weight off, start getting in shape and make some steady progress. The carb, hunger and Portion Control aspects help A LOT toward those ends.

Good luck.

I was sleeved on July 18th and lost 17 pounds in the first 2 weeks, I have not lost anything since, I guess week 3 was a stall, I added soft solids, I'm in week 4 now and I'm hoping when I weigh again on Wednesday it will go down. I'm not excersizing as much as I should, just hard working full time and single mom to find the time. Is there anyone else who experienced the stall, I'm getting very depressed like this was a waste of time, and I am only getting in about 400-600calories compared to the 2000-3000 before hand. Highest weight 280, lost 10 pre-op and 17 since surgery, now 253. I hope this stall doesnt last a long time!! :(

I had my surgery on July 9th and I've lost about 30 pounds post-op. I'm pretty steady with weight loss so far: I lose a pound about every 3 days. I'm sure this will taper off at some point. I'm not concerned though, as long as I'm somewhere near my goal a year from now.

I had my surgery July 17th and I have lost 30 pounds and haven't lost any for the past week. I'm just trying to focus on the big scheme of getting to a goal as opposed to how much I lose weekly because from what I have read and heard, focusing on each pound can be disappointing at times.

My surgery was on July 16 and I've lost 27 lbs (12 preop and 15 post op). Seems like I've stalled. Just added soft foods 7 days ago. Exercise can begin tomorrow. Hoping to pick up the pace then.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
