At my first cook out since my surgery three weeks ago.. It's so hard wanting all the delicious foods cooked on the grill.. I guess I'm mourning the old way of eating :-/ I'm just sitting here watching everybody eat.. I know it will be easier soon but this is really really hard..

I haven't had surgery yet, but from what I read on this site it sounds like it gets easier by the week, and u will be able to eat small amts. Of a lot if the things u r missing. I'm on pre op diet (before pre op liquid phase). Good luck!

Hang in there hun, I'm sure it will get better. Just try to remember to keep your eyes on the prize! Take it one minute (and sometimes second) at a time. I know I'm not sleeved yet but I'm doing a pre-op diet that eliminates all of my favorite foods..I've been doing it for 3 1/2 weeks and have 2 1/2 weeks left 'til surgery. Try not to get discouraged, just remember this is short term sacrifice for long term gain! Take some deep breaths, go for a walk, listen to some music or relax and write all your thoughts in a journal. Sending you hugs, thoughts and prayers. <3

It does get better. What I do when I go to a cookout is take some shrimps on a skewer. It's Awsome source of Protein and goes down super easy. It's also something that you can play with.

I was 4 weeks out and still on full liquid diet and I went to a cook out on 4th of July. My husband ate and ate and ate and then....piled three large Desserts on his plate and ate some more and drank a beer.

There's always next 4th of July. It gets better. I did 5 weeks full liquid, plus the two week - preop (Only shakes!) so I get you, it sucks but you have to let go and stay strong.

It's worth it in the end.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
