I am around 4 months post op and I think I am starting to have attacks. I get a sudden sharp pain that starts in my middle right back and radiates to under my ribs on the right side. Occasionally it will spread towards my shoulder.

At first, a few weeks ago, it was a dull ache. Now it is becoming more like a severe cramp that has had me double over once.

From what I have seen though is that people don't start having these problems until much farther out than I am.

So when did you first start feeling pain from your gallbladder? How long did you stick it out for before going in?

hi im just 6 week after surgery and i having the same pain i went to the DR. today for my 6 week follow he send me to do ultrasound some hopefully i dont go for surgery hope you feel better

Baffles me why they don't just take them out to begin with. I am pre-op---already have gallbladder pain from time to time--and my surgeon will not take it out when he does the sleeve.

Sounds like a gallstone attack! I had mine taken out 2 years ago... The first time I ever had one (about 6 years ago) I thought I was having a heart attack. Went to the ER and none of the tests indicated gallstones and the doc there said I was probably having a panic attack. I dealt with it off and on, progressively getting worse before finding the PCP that I have now who correctly diagnosed the problem.

Is your pain episodic or constant? If it's constant, it may be something else. Gallstone attacks tend to go away after a few hours.

Some people on here do there's taken out at the same time! It seems so much more convenient!

The pain lasts for about 10 - 20 minutes right now. It usually occurs in the evening or nighttime. If I do end up going I guess I should just say that I am almost certain it is gallstones.

This reason occured to me a well. Money. Another pile for their pocket. I'd hate to think so but it is not beyond reason.

Mine came out 2 weeks before my scheduled sleeve operation. I had a severe attack, it was my request.

My wife had hers out when she got her Roux-N-Y.

We haven't missed them.

I has my first attack 3 weeks after giving birth to my twins. I had my sleeve almost exactly 2 years later and I did have my gallbladder out at the same time. No extra pain but I do have really loose bowels, most likely related to the gallbladder going.

Not everyone has gallbladder issues, so I see why they don't do it for everyone, but if you have symptomatic stones, then why not? Same laparoscopic surgery as sleeve.

That said, if I did it over again, I wouldn't have done the ingroinal hernias with any other surgery. The healing is so painful and prolonged. I could be walking and feeling well by now if not for the hernias.

My surgeon refuses to take out gallbladder with VSG. But a friend of mine had her gallbladder removed at the same time as bypass surgery. Seems like a good idea to me.

Well, the stated reason is that there are no gallbladder problems at the moment. Of course, separate gallbladder surgery does generate more income.

My dr said that if I had stones on my ultrasound that he would take my gallbladder out when he did my sleeve. My ultrasound was clear though.
