Smoking

What is everyone’s surgeon’s policy on quitting smoking? I know that I will be required to quit, and I have been trying. This is way harder than I thought it would be, and my husband hasn’t been very supportive because he doesn’t want to quit and will not stop smoking around me. I find it the most difficult when I am in the car. I have two more weeks of my classes for Kaiser left, then I get referred to the surgeon, where they do tests to see if you have quit. I was told that the nicotine doesn’t have to be completely out of your system, but it does have to show that you are quitting (I’m assuming by having lower numbers)

And I didn't even mention smoking to my Dr bc I wanted it to be a non issue bc I knew I would quit bc I had to.

I probably shouldn't have mentioned I was a smoker to my surgeon, but I did because I feel I'm being held accountable now! Lol! Good luck to you. You can do this! Take it one day at a time. It gets better after 3 days? I'm finding day 3 to be a little tricky keeping the cravings at bay, but it's managable. Do you havd any Chantix side effects?

I'm betting tomorrow will be better for you!

I really can't think of any side effects that Chantix has given me. I hear a lot of people have really vivid dreams but I can't remember one dream i've had in 16 days! I constantly had cough drops in my mouth and someone here recommended a peppermint stick which helped too to keep in my hand and mouth, but I also found a pen was helpful in my hand when driving, etc.

But I did get the Nicotine Free 0% e-cigarette filter to use bc I really wanted a cigarette and didn't want the nicotine or any other chemicals to set me back to fail! And it did help my craving..just havaing something to puff on ya know!

Good luck & if you have any questions, just ask!
