Well, as of Monday I will be 60 days post op. I have gone thru one two week stall and over all I have lost 39 lbs as of today. I feel slightly disappointed in myself that I havent lost more. There is a lady that had her surgery the same day as mine and she has lost over 60 lbs so far.

Between work and home I am too dang tired to make it to the gym; I have been once sinc surgery. I will admidt the inches are coming off. My favorite shirts are very baggy, my boobs dont suffocate me when I wear a good bra...lol The jeans are getting looser and I got into a pair of jeans that I had not worn in a year and there was no muffin top. They still felt snug in areas but were sort of baggy in the back side. I realize these are samll scale victories, but I was really hopeing for something more life changing.

We are set to go to the beach for a week in 15 days. I was hopeing to be able to get the luxery of buying a new bathing suit before we go. But, the old one from last year still fits ok. The top is a little looser in the waist and the swim shorts are looser too.

Is anyone feeling like I am? I feel as if I am not on track were I should be. I told myself this morning I was only 100 lbs away from my goal weight; but honestly I would love to just be under 200.

If anyone has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate the help. :unsure:

Please Please Please let me loose 5 pounds a week after I have surgery. If you ask me that is pretty life changing. I said it in an earlier post today but I'll say it again... if you think you are disappointed by how much weight you are losing, just step into any gym and start telling people that you ONLY lose 5lbs a week and see if anyone feels bad for you. My guess is that most people that are spending their time in the gym would die to lose 5lbs a week.

Sounds like you are doing GREAT!!! I would say keep it up and remember not to compare yourself with others. Everyone's body is a little different but the rate you are losing is nothing to be upset at. Lose to quickly and you'll end up with a ton of loose skin.

I consider myself to be wildly successful. My nurse tells me I'm losing like a bypass patient. I couldn't be happier.

So, just for comparison, I calculated how much I lost in the 60 days after surgery (after I subtract what I lost from the pre-op diet).

You know how much? 33 pounds. So you got me beat! I mean, think about it: 16 pounds a month is INSANE!

Congrats on your AWESOME progress so far!

Yes, I agree with those who've posted above, your weight loss is awesome. Let's not forget we didn't gain all the weight over night, our bodies are doing the best they can to shed the weight healthy. A pound loss is a pound loss. You should Celebrate and rejoice every single pound that goes, because it's gone for good. Best of luck and hope you feel better.

You should be ecstatic! I'm 48 days out and have lost 14 lbs since surgery, 36 total. I've been stalled four out of the six weeks post-surgery. Count your blessings and rock that swimsuit!

Stop comparing yourself to others! Your body is not like the other person's body! You have done great so please stop comparing and Celebrate the loss that you have had! It's alot of weight and you are not finished yet. It will come off. Now if you are depressed because you feel guilty and shameful about not exercising like your suppose too, then that's a different story. Start exercising now and pat yourself on the back for getting started. You can do it without looking back and punishing yourself.

Celebrate the weight loss you have succeeded at! In fact, Keep Rockin that Sleeve and to something wonderful for yourself. You can and have done this! Eat Protein, Protein, protein, and veggies. Drink lots of Water to stay hydrate and exercise. ;)

You sound like you are doing great! We are always harder on ourselves. The slower weight loss may be a blessing in disguise...you probably won't have hanging skin. I hope that you start to feel better about your situation soon!!!

20 pounds per month is quite a loss. It will slow down, so enjoy it while you can. I started exercising religiously at four months out so that I would not have a lot of hanging skin. Right now I am 10-1/2 months post op, have lost 92 pounds and have nine to go to get to my goal. I exercise 1-1/2 hours a day and have very little hanging skin. I started out just doing a short little 1/2 hour aerobics tape every day, which was very difficult for me to even get through in the beginning. I kept at it, and now I do that aerobics tape without even breaking a sweat, plus bowflex or pilates, and floor exercises for my legs. You can do it, but you do have to work at it, and exercise is key, unless you want to be looking at a lot of hanging skin at the end. Go on the internet and look at full body lifts, and you will see what I mean. Get your booty in geat, and start exercising. Do what you can and build up. Set goals. You can do it, but you do have to work at it.

A bit of advice, stop being so focused on the scale, on how you "compare" to what you PERCEIVE to be expected weight loss. Focus on the journey, new habits, following the rules. Focus on your new life that will becoming so real as the pounds come off.

I personally went through a bit of a "malaise" when I was about 6-8 weeks out. I am not sure why... but maybe it was because I had gone through it all, i was still pretty dang fat, nobody could see the difference and I didn't like that food didn't taste good anymore. I was also SOOO tired.

My advice on the exhaustion is to get plenty of sleep, be sure you are getting adequate fluids and try to do at least some gentle exercise because that will actually help your energy pick up. I would say that my energy wasn't really back to normal until I was two months out.

You will find, that one day you are wearing clothes several sizes smaller, people are saying "wow, you look great" and you notice you can move and do things so much easier. It is like it just takes a while but it really does add up and in a few more months i promise you will feel better. Just keep on following the rules and keep the faith.

      Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
