Bowel Movements After Surgery.

I am assuming since post opp we will eat very little compared to before, that bowel movements will change as well. Did anyone suffer from constipation?

I did and I started to put a scoop of benefiber in my morning protein shake. This took care of the problem. I still have a protein shake for breakfast everyday and add the benefiber. I am not a little over 3 months out. This keeps me regular, gives me a meal with protein and also not a lot of calories. This give me more to have during the day.

I use one capful of Miralax everyday in my milk or cranberry juice. This also is a huge problem for me.

My surgeon has me take Milk of Magnesia, I am only 2 days postop. With the pain meds and decreased intake, you will probably need a little something to help, at least for a while.

3azscotties.....so glad to see another person owned by their wee ball o'fur. :)

I am on week two and have not had constipation. I did not have a bm for a week or so, but no discomfort or anything. I just assumed it was from lack of solids and my body would go when it was ready. When I started full liquids I had a normal bm. I guess I just needed more solids in my diet.

So far no diarrhea or constipation for me. Fingers crossed!

I didn't at first but I'm almost a month out and it's getting worse. It's probably time for me to add some fiber to a shake or something.
