Congratulaions. This was my first surgery too. I was pretty nervous the night before but the morning of I was very calm. You really dont need much at the hospital,..I think it would have been helpful to have headphones...I had a noisey roommate. I took a book. and a change of comfortable clothes, a robe to cover up while walking the halls and slippers but they gave be socks with rubber I liked them better. Thats about it.

My advice is get up as soon as you can and walk walk walk as soon as they let you especially if you dont feel good. I felt nauseous at first but they gave me something and it helped. Will say a prayer for you, I believe that this surgery was a gift from God for me. I am so thankful others can get it too.

Looking forward to reading your posts post op!

Your nerves are going to be all over the place until you are in "la la land"Monday. But after your surgery you will feel soo relieved! I will say, after surgery you will be in a little bit of pain, so don't be afraid to use what ever medication they give you. For me, I felt very sore the first few hours afterwards but over night I felt fine again. Make sure you take lots of loose outfits.. Mostly stretchy outfits. And anything that you find comforting to you. It's such a quick stay at the hospital whic is nice, because recovery at home makes things soo much better! All in all I wish you the best of luck and keep us updated!

I was in the hospital 2 days and never got out of their hospital gown. I even wore one backwards as a robe when I walked the halls. I had my own but didn't even feel like putting it on. You'll have the IV pole and can't get your arm in a regular robe. Walk as much as you can everyday. Pack light. My favorite thing I took was my iPad. You'll be surprised how much you nap off and on. Yoga pants for the ride home are good.....anything non-binding. Congrats! You'll do great!

Lizbeth I'm so glad to hear you have a date set. I only had to stay one day, but just bring the basic. Toothbrush, toothpaste, underwear, house shoe, brush, soap, Shampoo and a robe. I wore the hospital night gown when I was in there, but I wore my night gown and a robe on my way home . You will be up doing a lot of walking, so be ready and it also helps with your gas. They had me up 20mins after I came from recovery. Oh they do tell you to bring your laptop, iPhone, book, or mp3. Trust me all the meds they pump in you all your going to do is sleep. Good luck...

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
