Recently decided to get sleeved!

I have recently decided to have bariatric surgery. First I was set on the gastric bypass, knowing how fast the weight comes off. That is impressive. And I've dieted where you may lose 1-2 pounds a week, if you don't blow it with one meal and gain it all back. But after all the research I decided to have the gastric sleeve. On a more personal note, my best friend died 3years ago from a pulmonary embolism 3 weeks post-op from a gastric bypass. For that reason alone, it's crazy that I am going to do this. But there comes a time when enough is enough! I've tried it all and suck at all the diets. And now I have to do what I believe I need to do to be healthy. I need to live!

This journey will be an exciting one, yet scarey. After all the research, with the help of my husband, I will probably have Dr. Kelly in Mexico perform it. Any stories about him???

I do not know Dr. Kelly, but Congrats on your decision. I am so so sorry to hear about your friend. How awful!! PE is possible after any surgery like other risks...but I understand your being sick and tired of being overweight. I look at it like I could have a heart attack or diabetes at any moment...and I could die in a car wreck any day. I figure when the good Lord calls me home...I will return. I think it is my job now to do what I can to take care of my body to do His plan for my life...and the sleeve is my way back to healthy. Glad to have you on the forum and goodluck with everything. Joan

Congrats Flip Flop Momma for making the decision to better your life! I am in the process of getting sleeved and it finally looks like July

And kudos to you Mrs.Positive for your comments. I totally agree! We need to enjoy this "gift" of life and make the most of our time!!!

Best wishes to you both!!!

Congrats on your decision. I just got back home from Mexico after beeing a patient of Dr. Kelly last night and Im doing great! It was a little different then what i expected even though I knew I was going to mexico but I'm so grateful that I went through this and am now home and felling amazing! Good luck to you!

I put my story about my experience with Dr. Kelly in my profile. I tried to include a lot of details. Dr. Kelly is smashing!! I highly recommend him and Trish.

I am another Dr Kelly success.... wonderful surgeon and kind Christian man. Work directly with Trish if you can... she will take great care of you! If you have any questions... just ask!

My daughter and I are in Tijuana right now. She had her sleeve with Dr. Kelly yesterday and is doing well. Dr. Aceves did my sleeve and I feel very confident with Dr. Kelly.

Dr. Kelly did my sleeve in February and I am doing great. He is a very nice man. Trish was wonderful.
