Wellbutrin

Anyone been on Wellbutrin before? My doc suggested it as a potential treatment for my non-existent sex drive, and some superficial internet research resulted in lots of positive opinions on this drug - including for weightloss - so I'm thinking of trying it. Does anyone have any personal experiences? Curious as to the effects it had on your sex drive, sleeping, appetite, and general well-being. Just wondering what to expect - the only "brain drug" I've been on to date was Prozac. Well, the only legal brain drug....

Wellbutrin gave me insomnia even more. Prozac is working well 4 me.

I take a combination of wellbutrin and zoloft, it works well for me the wellbutrin I take befor I go to work as it raises my energy level, and it does help with my libido somewhat. do not take it at bedtime.

I took it a few years ago for smoking, like tiff sId great for the smoking. Not so much for anything else. They should have called it," no sex at all" needless to say I went back to smoking. I did quit back in Jan of this year with chantix. Everyone is different. What works for some doesn't work for others. Give it a try.

I missed this the first time around. I took it for about 5 years when I was peri-menopausal (fancy way of saying your body is changing but you are still having periods). I stopped taking it about two years ago when I read an article that said exercise was more effective at relieving depression. First they put me on Prozac, but it made me feel funny and I gained up to 260 - my highest weight ever. I dropped back to 220 after switching. I didn't notice a decrease in appetite. I never went under 220 without really struggling and tracking every bite I ate.

I was on it and it made it difficult for me to sleep.. It increased my sex drive a small amount..my appetite was the same as always and I just didn't like how it made me feel. Everyone is different.. sometimes you have to just give things a whirl to see if they are good for you.

Does this mess with your sleep? I have terrible insomnia, last thing I need is an upper to stop me from sleeping altogether.

Every single anti depressant I have ever tried has made my insomnia much worse, other than amitriptiline, which does just the opposite . It makes me sleep, but also makes me want to eat like a pig.

I am on it as well 150mg I like it but I don't like it with Effexor. I think I want to get rid of the Effexor and up the Wellbutrin

I suffer(ed) from severe depression and PMDD. I was on Wellbutrin for a couple years. Switched to Effexor and then about 3 years ago they added Wellbutrin back.

I can't say if affected my libido or not as several other things were going on in my life. But what I can say is that everyone reacts differently to different psychotropic drugs. What energizes one person-sedates another.

I had manic episodes from one antidepressant I was on and some cease to be effective after awhile. If you take it and it doesn't provide the results you are looking for-tell your doctor. It may need to be tweaked or changed.

I went through 5 or 6 different antidepressants before finding the combination that has worked for me now for more than 8 years.

I was on Wellbutrin a year ago for stress when my son was in Afghanistan and I did notice that it decreased my appetite and increased my sex drive. I felt like a 20 year old again. I quit taking it when that stressful situation was over simply because I don't like to take meds if I don't need them.

I wish I could find one that helped me sleep but didn't make me want to eat all the time.

Most of those anti depressants make me feel like I stuck my finger in a light socket, or I drank 20 cups of coffee.

I have tried Lexapro, Zoloft, Paxil, Prozac, Effexor, Celexa, Cymalta and Welbutrin.

Serzone worked well for me but they took it off the market because it causes liver failure. Now I have problems with my liver. I still can't sleep, and nothing seems to help me. Everyone of those messed with my libido.

The one thing that also screws up the libido is birth control pills or even the IUD if it has

hormones in it.
