    Iowa Sleeves?

I'm getting sleeved on 1/17/12 anyone else from Iowa?
  2. Question to those that have been sleeved. This is my second day post-op and I am confused by my tummy talking to me. If I drink too much I get this pressure in my chest, then I take smaller sips but still get the same pain, then there are times when there is just plain ol pain/discomfort. For today I have had a total of 4oz broth and the same amout of Jello + a total of 16oz of Water. Am I just having post op pain, is it hunger pains or am I being told I'm full. How did you guys figure out how to read what your stomach is telling you? What does full feel like when you are sleeved? Thanks for any insight. Tracy
  3. I feel like everything I have eaten is wrong and now I'm stressing that I messed up my sleeve or stretched it or who knows what.
  4. I wish I could do that sometimes, but it seems like since I've had surgery I can't seem to throw up. I know it's tmi but I gag just nothing will come up
  5. The way the surgeon handled it is horrible, however my dr. Told me up front that they typically don't take patients of other drs because everyone does things differently so if I had any plans to leave the area any time soon to consider that.
  6. It's not Friday but I have to confess I ate a hot dog today and it was good. I put some turkey chili on it and had half for Lunch and half for dinner

    Overtraining

Thank you for posting this. I too am a horrible hypochondriac, but am working really hard on it. I also have a very addictive personality. The person that did my orientation at the Y started noticing what I'm doing and how often which resulted in a talk about over training. it's hard for me to cut back but I am actually feeling better and now I only have that good kind of hurt after a great workout and not the nagging pain from doing more than I should.

    Wine And Whine Wednesday!

I am sick of being stalled. I had the dreaded 3rd week stall for two weeks then woo hoo I lost 8 lbs in 4 days only to be stalled again for another week at this point with no end in sight. It's tiring and frustrating and messes with my head. (
  9. My suggestion would be to talk to your surgeon & NUT because it isn't the same all the way around. Mine want me to weigh so I weigh, he hasn't steered me wrong yet... I'm down 50 lbs in 5 weeks.
  10. My surgeon and NUT want me to weigh not measure in a measuring cup. All the info they have given me goes by ozs for food and beverage. When I had my 1 week visit I confirmed for my protein they want it weighed.

    January 2012 Sleevers!

Omg we are in the same place. I have been stalled for 2 weeks as well, but I'm stalled at 301..... Grrrrrr I think it would be less frustrating if it was 299 instead of still stuck in the 300's. I did get on the scale today and I went from 301 to 300 so maybe I will start moving now

    Pre Op Diet

Im on day 2 of my Pre op diet and ended up in a position where I was out with none of my liquid meals. We ended up at Panera as I wasn't driving. I tried to make the best choice and got the low fat vegetarian black bean soup. I didn't eat all of it and I still have 12 days till surgery. How bad did I screw up? I see my surgery nurse on Friday and will fess up but right now I feel horrible.

    Unflavored Protein Powder

I have the Unjury unflavored and I could handle the taste but I couldn't get past the smell once it was mixed with a liquid.
  14. My dr had no problem with cream of wheat or applesauce. He says if I eat the calories and protein im supposed to he isn't worried about my carbs. Apparently it's working as tomorrow is 3 weeks and I'm down 35 lbs
  15. I know we aren't supposed to compare ourselves to others and I am trying not to, but I'm so confused by my tummy. This Tuesday I will be 3 weeks out. I feel like I am getting hunger pains and all I want to do is eat. Are hunger pains real and do they happen at only 3 weeks? What is head hunger and how do you know it is head hunger? I know my wanting to eat all the time is being home and being bored so I'm trying to stay active. I feel like I don't understand my tummy anymore and what it is trying to tell me. I take prilosec every morning so it shouldn't be acid. Someone told me we wouldn't have hunger pains, but I'm having what hunger pains felt like before surgery. Here is a normal day of food Breakfast 3/4 of a medium egg scrambled lunch is 1.5 - 2 ozs of Protein either chicken or refried Beans & cottage cheese dinner is usally the same as lunch and sometimes i will add 1/4 c of black bean Soup I make 1 Protein shake in the morning wiht 1c of milk & 1/2 banana and drink on that between each meal so that would be 1/4 of shake 4 times thru the day I feel like i'm eating too much, but at 6 weeks i'm to be at 1000 calories Oh and so far I have lost 32 lbs since surgery, but 20 of those were in the 1st week Please offer any input or advice Thanks!

    Frustrated With My Tummy

This is what my surgeon prescribed for me and when I questioned the extended release he said they all are extended release, which I checked and they are. I know it's crazy because I had to switch 3 of my rx's away from extended release.

    Frustrated With My Tummy

Thank you. I've sometimes wondered if the fact that he has me taking extended release Prilosec crushed is a problem. I think I'm going to try the twice a day dosage and see how that works. Thank you!
  20. I drank grape g2 from the beginning. I didn't like water right after surgery and drink mixins gave me heartburn. It is on our list that we can have it starting wk 2

    January 2012 Sleevers!

The EAS is very good, they are my go to when I don't feel like drinking a protein shake. My NUT and Dr. scared me yesterday by saying If I dont get to eating and getting my nutrition in my body is going to go into starvation mode and then my metabolism will get more screwed up than it already is from all the previous yo-yo dieting I've done. I really didn't need 1 more thing to worry about . Has anyone else discussed the whole starvation thing with your dr?

    January 2012 Sleevers!

Soups not creamed and with only protein powder added, protein shakes with water milk or yogurt, broth, jello, milk, meal replacements, yogurt drinks, oh and I was allowed pudding or applesauce only for taking my pills. If I had to blend it to make it drinkable then it was puréed, whatever I ate had to come in a liquid form

    January 2012 Sleevers!

Debs you are way lucky. I tried doing that and my dr called me out saying that was purée not full liquid no cream soups for me or blending anything in them. Oh and they made me quit after 30 minutes of eating. Thank goodness I'm on purée now Mel, I think we are the same person lol. I'm the same as u with the Lortab and driving and starting mt period lol... Like surgery twins
