Left Side Hurting

I am 12 days post opt and my left side is hurting. I don't know what I could have done but it is really bothering me; when I cough, turn a certain way, bend down to pick something up, sit. The only time that it is not bothering me is when I lay completely flat. I have an appt on Wed, but do you think that I should call the dr earlier? Or do you think that I am just sore from the surgery and it is my body's way of healing?

It may be you are over doing it. I got sharp pains on my left side went I bent over to pick up something from the floor, putting dishes in the dishwasher. Remember you just had major surgery. Relax tonight and don't do anything else. If you are still in pain tomorrow, call your doctor and see what they said. Good Luck.

I agree with Klus263. Also, if the pain is severe, you should definitely call your doctor. I think it's good to err on the side of better safe than sorry!!! I hope you feel better soon!!

I think my surgeon said more stuff was done on that side (staples.) so it would hurt more

The incision that bothers me the most is on that side too

I have the most pain on my left side. When I cough, sneeze, bend, sleep, move ANYTHING it's irritated.

However, it's not TOO painful.

Use your best judgement. But youre not alone

My pain is on my right side and that is where my largest incision is. I notice that when I am doing too much I start to have more pain. I am 13 days out and last night I had to take pain meds because I overdid it on christmas! I go back to work tomorrow so I am keeping my fingers crossed that I don't get too tired. I would suggest rest. Don't bend or pick anything up. Just relax all day and see if you feel a little better. If not then I would call the doc.

Oh, I meant to add that when I bend a lot, it tends to get sore on my right side, too. But, Amber has a good suggestion to rest and see if that helps. I found mine got way more sore when I did a bunch of chores the other day.
