I've been sleeved

Hi all -

Well here I am finally -- I've tried to get online since about 4; however, I wasn't able to stay awake long enough to read or type anything.

Pre-testing was yesterday and all went well. Ernesto picked us up at 7 am this morning and we came to the hospital. We waited about 30 minutes as they were cleaning our rooms. Then they came and got Ruthi and tooker her to her room and I waited some more. Then the internest wanted to question me with regard to some of my allergies. Also informed me that my blood work showed a slight UTI. None of this prohibited my surgery, Thank God. So to my room I went.

Disrobed and got in the lovely hospital gowns provided by the hospital and waited. Dr. Aceves and one of his assistans (not Dr. Campos, he isnt here right now) came to see if I had any questions and give a brief synopsis of what he had talked about yesterday. Various nurses were in and out - blood pressure, temperature, Lucy to give me my happy pills ... and then we were off to the operating room .. I remember being wheeled into the OR and I remember absolutely NOTHING after that until they were waking me up in recovery.

I was taken from recovery to my room. And have pretty much been sleeping of and all all day.

My surgery went great - Dr. Aceves said it was a very easy surgery and he also repaired a small hiatal hernia. He said the entire surgery took 1:07 minutes and I passed the first leak test.

He has been in 3 times to check on me and Lucy was here a few times too. I've had one pain shot and that was just a bit ago when the pain moved from my left shoulder blade to right under my left breast. Thank God for my heating pad. I have taken a few walks - twice to the bathroom and twice around the floor .. down to to talk with Ruthi and Becki. Becki leaves tomorrow. Ruth and I are here until Monday. There is a gal next door to Ruth who had the lapband and she came from Arkansas. She didn't even know what the sleeve was, so we tried to explain it to; however, I don't she "got" it. She goes home tomorrow too.

I will be glad for tomorrow when I can have some sips of Water, my throat is so dry from the breathing tube ... other than that I feel good (with the exception of the gas moving around - I think that means I'll probably start passing it soon ... walking definitely does help)

Well, I am going to go and try and read some posts -- I think I have about 4 pages worth. Thanks to all of you for your thoughts and prayers.

I borrowed Dr. Campos' lap top every day I was there. It was a lifesaver. he

is good about letting people borrow it. Ask Sergio.

OMG - I stepped on the scale this morning and since surgery I've been losing about 1 lb. a day ... this morning I was down 6.6. I reweighed myself 3 times and everytime it was the same.

Wow, a good night sleep, no coughing fits and DOWN 6.6 lbs. you can bet I was doing the HAPPY DANCE!!!

That's a total of 20.2 lbs. since surgery on 6/12.

Water weight or actual weight -- I don't care -- its 20.2 lbs in 9 days ... unfriggin believable!:lol0::lol0: :001_tongue:

Six pounds in ONE day? Way to go!! I would dearly love a surprise like that one.

6.6 !!! Sure shocked the heck out of me I don't mind telling you. I have no idea why, but figure why look a gifthorse in the mouth - right??

I think its wonderful, I lost like that at first but now its just a lb a day, sometimes 2. How was eating out working for you?

A pound or two a day? Sheesh, you guys. You're doing great. I'm jealous. I go a few days and then drop a pound and then maybe another the next day and then nothing for a while.

It went pretty good - however, the only Soups Applebees has is Chili, French Onion and Tomato Basil. Chili, obviously as definitely out, I HATE onions - although I did ask for a tiny bit to see if my tastes might have changed -- NOPE ... and so I opted for a bowl of the tomato basil -- YES, I know, not a clear food, but the best I could come up with. It wasn't totally Soup either - there were really tiny chunks in it ... so I did the best I could to just get the soup part -- I ate about 5-6 bites and brought the rest home. However, I noticed as the time went on, I had terrible acid reflux. So when we got home I took another nexium and that got rid of it ... and then I got to thinking -- DUH, you're tummy doesn't like basil ... and that was what was in the soup - so go figure! I also had an iced tea -- which I nursed all night long and still didn't finish.

:sad0: First off, Congratulations on the awesome weight loss:thumbup1:

Your doing great! I can't wait to have my Sleeve done and rid myself of this lap band.....

One thing to keep in mind that anytime you have surgery Regardless if it's weight loss surgery, your body has to heal itself, and will use LOTS of calories in the process.... So maybe this could account for some of the loss???? Not sure but who cares right??? As long as those pounds come off -

Keep us posted on your success! I'm so excited for you!!:biggrin2:

Yeah, that cracks me up too. I never lost more than 5 lb. in any one week and mostly did 4-5 the first couple of weeks and then settled into a steady 2-3 lb. loss.

Sometimes it can be a little frustrating to see people dropping major poundage, but I figured that the main thing was to get there in the end. And I got to goal in 6.5 months so all my angst over people who seemed to be losing faster was for naught!

Absolutely super..! Enjoy every # lost. Is a great feeling. I lost big the 1st couple weeks but now have settled into usually 3#/week. Is wonderful seeing the scales go down instead of up.

You are doing geat!!!

Wow, you got to goal in 6 1/2 months. That is awesome!!!!! Congratulations on your success. How difficult has maintaining been?

How difficult has maintaining been?

I'll let you know when I stop losing. :frown1:

My only weight goal was to get to a normal BMI. But once I got there, I knew I had more work to do. I got down under 120 and at this point I'm mostly satisfied. I am hoping to go down to 115 and then bounce around that point, but I wouldn't cry if I never got below what I am at now.

So I consider myself on maintenance and I'm not actively trying to lose. But I am still losing... a pound here and there.

Oh I am sure I will drop down to slow ... I am sure this weight loss is mostly fluids, so I'm not putting too much emphasis on it. I know the hard work is in front of me.

WHAT IS UP WITH THAT?

Okay - so I stepped on the scale and I'm UP 3.0 lbs.???? I reweighed 3x since I couldn't believe my eyes and then my heart sunk to my toes ... still lodged there I believe.

The only thing I can even think it might be is the Soup I had for dinner last night. I've never liked Soups for the fact they have way to much sodium in them for my tastes; however, I didn't notice that with last night's dinner (and today's lunch). Although this morning my fingers are swollen and my rings are tight, so I am guessing it's from the sodium.

So I don't know if I should weigh once a week, take a knife and slash my wrists (only kidding on this), sit down and cry or what !?!

Anyone else have this problem post-op?

:tongue_smilie: :sad0:
