I removed all mine except the one in..ahem...an intimate area. And that's because I don't know how to lol. Your nose shouldn't close as long as you get it back in after surgery. Belly button ones stay

You could ask if you could use plastic studs.... it is probably because if some thing goes wrong they dont want to deal with the chance of not being able to do x-rays or something.

The instructions given to me say: REMOVE ALL BODY JEWELRY. Gggggrrrrrrr!!! I have had quite a few surgeries before and no doctor has ever requested me to take mine off. I have a nose ring (that will probably be closed by the end of the surgery) and two other piercings.... Removing those is out of the question!!! Anyone else experience this or something TOTALLY different??
