May banders!

So I just got the call from my surgeons office I go in for my pre op group meeting on may 7. I'm waiting on a call from the person who sets up the surgery schedule to set my date. We're shooting for the week of may 13 which would mean I start my pre op diet next week! Ah it's all feeling real now!

Anyone else getting banded around this time? I'd love to have someone on the same timeline as me to talk to!

Good luck to all!

I was banded Monday 5/6. Everything seems to be heeling pretty well. My incisions (you can see a 48 hour after photo under thread "my incisions 48 hours post-op" thread if you like) seem to be healing

I am about 10 days post-op and after the first 3 days of clear liquid I had to break up and space out the protein shakes. After another day I was able to get 3 in.

Then added some sugar free instant pudding made at home with fat free milk. Ice pops were my saving grace to get the extra fluids in and a nice cup of decaf tea with artificial sweetener.

Today I am still on liquids and purée soup. I have found another on here that offered up a Wendy's chilli with low fat sour cream whipped in blender and that took away some of the blandness to the liquid diet.

I don't think about getting stuck or having an episode I am just going along taking care of myself and adjusting as needed and I am so very happy!

Half a bowl of mushed up chilli and I am full! I love that. Before that would not have been the case.

I purchased some bowls and plates from precise portions.com they are attractive no one has to know they measure your food in secret and I can see what it takes to satisfy my hunger for an hour or more.

I have been eating at intervals to get it all down. 9-11-1-3-5-7 gets all the protein in I need and both hubby and I are doing great.

Also read about a butter finger shake on here somewhere here is their recipe. I would think any fat free milk will do and it's a break from the standard vanilla or chocolate shakes.

mix protein powder with FF butterscotch pudding mix, almond milk, and a teaspoon of peanut butter, blended in my magic bullet. Tastes just like a butterfinger!

Good luck everyone and keep up the amazing work!!

So it's been a week, pain is so much better. I'm back at work and adjusting. I do have a question. When I bend over I can feel tightness, like my stomach is hard and feels like it's in my chest. Anyone else feel this?

I also made the mistake of eating a little bit of chicken breast yesterday at lunch and even though I chewed it well and ate slow I felt horrible for 5 hours. I hope I didn't screw anything up. As of this morning I'm down 12lbs!!

Hi chastity, congrats on 12 pounds already! I am very surprised you are eatting solids only one week post-op. In the book provided by True Results it is three or four weeks before solid food is introduced. This gives the stomach time to heal. I understand the band is stitched into place? If that is correct then it makes sense that bending over for first two weeks may not be so pleasant. Please keep me updated. I hope you are feeling better and better ever day. How much weight do you hope to lose?

Yeah I called the dr and they said that feeling was normal and to not push myself too soon on the solid food front. I'm kind of stubborn sometimes and I'm not advising it by any means. We're here to learn from others successes and mistakes right? Well big mistake.

Every day gets a little easier and I have to keep reminding myself to give myself time to adjust and be patient.

I hope to lose another 98lbs but would be happy with 60lbs at this point. I have many short term goals to meet before reaching my utlimate goal. One lb at a time.
